Job Description

Under general supervision, uses knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience to help the team identify, evaluate, and execute M&A opportunities for Raymond James Financial, Inc. Responsible for contributing to the corporate development team’s efforts, including: performing qualitative and quantitative research on the financial services industry and potential target companies; assisting with financial and valuation analysis; and preparing and contributing to C-suite level materials. In each of these areas, this position will work closely with the corporate development team, business unit leadership, and the most senior management at the firm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform in depth company research and analysis on prospective business acquisitions
  • Monitor daily news on companies strategically significant to Raymond James
  • Effectively manage and maintain a database tracking historical engagement and interactions with prospective target firms
  • Identify and clearly communicate key pieces of intelligence from company financial filings, financial media and analyst coverage
  • Prepare industry and company research by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to be used in the drafting of firm and sector profile reports
  • Highlight and communicate key themes verbally and in writing to relevant internal audiences
  • Assist with in depth valuation analysis of targets and comparable firms
  • Maintain and modify existing valuation models and track all industry comparable transactions and trading multiples
  • Deliver timely analysis of research with minimal support
  • Assist in creating executive-level presentations and communications
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Support due diligence efforts through basic project management support

Knowledge of

  • Basic level understanding and interest in financial markets and products
  • Fluency in financial statement analysis
  • Analytical ability to provide insight into links in information and ability to communicate key points
  • Knowledge of fundamental investment concepts, practices, and procedures used in the securities industry
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of valuation theory, financial markets, and financial statement analysis is preferred
  • Familiarity with market databases, public filings, and other sources of market and company-level information is preferred

Skill in

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Building project plans and creating/maintaining project management tools
  • Exercise initiative and problem solving skills to independently resolve issues
  • Structured, logical thinker
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral; must be comfortable working with people at multiple levels
  • Proven financial modeling and valuation skills, including cash flow and comparable analyses is preferred
  • Intermediate to advanced user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with independently researching, interpreting, and synthesizing publicly available information in order to clearly summarize key data and facts

Bachelor’s: Accounting, Bachelor’s: Business Administration, Bachelor’s: Finance
