Job Title: Director, Construction & Development Accounting (Full-Time, Exempt)

Department: Finance & Accounting

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Location: Denver, CO (Headquarters Based)

Compensation: Pursuant to state regulations, the salary range is $128,400-$147,000 plus bonus potential. ​Eligible to participate in the company benefits plan. Summary

The Director of Construction & Development Accounting is a Denver-based executive responsible for the strategic oversight, financial governance, and systemic management across both CGRES (Capex) and CGDEV (Development) portfolios. This leadership role requires a sophisticated understanding of real estate financial structures, treasury management, and corporate internal controls.

The ultimate goal for this individual is to drive enterprise-wide accounting policies, lead and mentor a high-performing project accounting team, and partner closely with the Chief Financial Officer and executive leadership to align construction financial operations with the company's broader growth strategies and liquidity goals.

Executive Leadership & Team Management

  • Strategic Direction: Provide strategic direction and oversight to the construction & development accounting and administration teams, fostering a culture of high performance and collaborative execution.
  • Team Development: Establish in-person training, integration frameworks, and mentorship paths to ensure continuous professional growth across the accounting department.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the primary financial liaison between corporate accounting, asset management, and development executives to maintain alignment on overall portfolio performance.

Financial Reporting & Governance

  • Portfolio Reporting: Lead the overarching preparation, review, and strategic presentation of project draw reports, funding requests, and comprehensive financial portfolios for senior leadership and lenders.
  • Technical Authority: Act as the internal technical authority, staying ahead of evolving GAAP, IFRS, and construction-specific regulatory standards to future-proof organizational compliance.

Strategic Capital & Treasury Oversight

  • CFO Partnership: Partner directly with the Chief Financial Officer to shape and execute capital allocation, project financing structures, and enterprise risk management frameworks.
  • Capital Modeling: Oversee macro-level cash flow modeling, capital call allocations, and liquidity forecasting for all active, upcoming, and pipeline development projects.

Project Lifecycle, Budgeting & Systems Control

  • Transition Management: Drive complex project transitions, establishing clear accountability lines for Capex and Development project management.
  • Cost Control: Oversee rigorous job costing systems, budget variance modeling, and predictive financial reporting to identify and mitigate potential cost overruns before they impact profitability.
  • Lifecycle Operations: Direct cross-functional workflows for project administration, contract generation, comprehensive lien waiver tracking, and final project close-out procedures.
  • Systems Innovation: Champion the implementation, optimization, and scaling of enterprise-level project management and accounting information systems to guarantee real-time, accurate data integrity.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related business field.
  • Experience: Proven leadership experience in construction, real estate development, or public accounting with a heavy real estate focus.
