Mission

The Director of Computational Discovery will lead the strategic, scientific and operational direction of computational discovery activities (Bioinformatics and Molecular modelling), with a primary focus on disease understanding, target identification, molecular modelling and early translational research.

This role will ensure high‑impact contributions of computational approaches to R&D programs and support the Head of R&D Data Science in shaping long‑term strategy and innovation across the R&D portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of experienced multidisciplinary computational discovery scientists, including bioinformatics and molecular modelling.
• Drive the design and execution of the computational strategy for target identification, validation, and molecular design.
• Ensure robust scientific contributions to cross‑functional R&D projects from early discovery to translational stages.
• Collaborate closely with Disease Biology, Molecules, Translational and Clinical leads, and other data science functions.
• Represent the Computational discovery team in strategic discussions, committees, and governance forums.
• Contribute to long‑term data science strategy, including technology scouting and external scientific partnerships.
• Ensure compliance with data governance standards, reproducibility requirements, and responsible AI guidelines.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Chemistry, or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in computational discovery or related fields, with leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of drug discovery and translational research workflows.
• Proven ability to lead teams in matrixed R&D environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
