Coordinates, supports, and directs activities related to Compliance, Programmatic Accreditation, and Environmental Health & Safety on a College-wide basis. Major areas of responsibility focus on compliance activities and internal controls related to accreditation of College programs and Federal, State, and Local regulations such as: Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), Public Employee Risk Reduction Program (PERRP), Bureau of Underground Storage Tanks (BUSTR), and Cleveland Air Pollution Control.
Provides direct oversight of the College’s compliance program.
Leads, supervises, trains, and evaluates the work of assigned staff in accordance with College policies, collective bargaining contracts and labor laws.
Oversees College-wide Compliance Committee.
Supports Campus Police and Security Services with College-Wide Safety Governance committee and serves as the Administrative Officer.
Supports the Associate Vice President, Accreditation & Health Career Initiatives by being a resource in the efforts to ensure continued accreditation for all College programs.
Collaborates with Marketing & Communications and the Public Safety Institute on matters of risk mitigation.
Stays current with compliance and accreditation trends and keeps the College-wide community informed and equipped with resources to maintain compliance.
Assists programs with developing systems and protocols to monitor, satisfy, and provide evidence of compliance and accreditation requirements.
Serves as the Budget Unit Leader (BUL) for Compliance & Risk Management.
Supports the oversight in conjunction with Campus Police and Security Services and the General Counsel of the College’s Business Continuity and Incidence Response.
Provides oversight of the College’s property and casualty insurance policies in consultation with General Counsel.
Analyzes the College’s property and casualty insurance needs and periodically conducts RFP’s for insurance brokers in consultation with General Counsel.
Monitors compliance of safety training for college employees with Human Resources, Facilities, and Academic units overseeing laboratories and other programs with inherent safety risks.
Oversees the review and clearance of international travel, intaking incident reports, and identifying systemic issues requiring immediate attention. Reviews paperwork submitted by departments to confirm the disposal of regulated hazardous waste, infections waste, and universal waste was disposed of properly and in accordance with applicable regulations.
Conducts regular and as-needed College-wide safety audits in conjunction with Facilities and Human Resources.
Partners with Facilities and Campus Police & Security Services to administer the AED program.
Performs an annual review of College-wide compliance documentation (i.e., Chemical Hygiene Plan, Exposure Control Plan, etc.)
Performs annual testing of all laboratory fume hoods.
Coordinates Phase I and Phase II property site assessments.
Responds to general health and safety issues (Meningitis, SARS, Bed Bugs, etc.
Responds to, and evaluates, issues related to indoor air quality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING
Bachelor’s degree in a related field
Significant related experience may substitute for education.
Minimum of seven years of demonstrated experience in overall compliance, accreditation, risk management, or other relevant experience
Demonstrated experience supervising, planning, assigning, scheduling, and ensuring the quality of the work of others.
Demonstrated experience effectively developing strategies and making decisions that have significant, broad implications for the management and operations of a division (or equivalent business area)
Demonstrated experience and effectiveness requiring dynamic and analytical problem-solving methods in a variety of situations.

Demonstrated compliance experience at an institution of higher education.

Member of local/national risk and safety organizations such as URMIA, RIMS, National Safety Council, Greater Cleveland Safety Council, etc.

The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment.
The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc.
Work may also require walking and standing in conjunction with travel to and attendance at meetings and conferences away from the worksite.
Target Starting Salary Range: $90,000 to $100,000
The final offer for the successful candidate is targeted to fall within this range but will be based upon an assessment of internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications in relation to the minimum and/or preferred job requirement(s).
