This is an opportunity to play a senior role in the continued success and growth of the Commodity Derivatives team, with a focus on Base and Precious Metals in the UK.

The role is responsible for managing the Base and Precious Metals trading book in close partnership with the wider Trading team, combining strong market judgement, disciplined risk management, and collaborative execution.

The overall objective is to deliver sustainable revenues, support the development of the trading franchise, and build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Lead oversight of the metals trading book as a senior trader, managing risk for the respective business with sound judgement and accountability.
  • Engage regularly with clients and stakeholders to share market insights, identify new opportunities, and execute transactions effectively.
  • Partner with Corporate and Investment Banking Relationship Managers to expand the client base and cross-sell Global Banking and Markets (GBM) and broader Bank capabilities, including supporting stakeholder engagement through presentations and approvals of hedging facilities.
  • Stay close to industry developments, including market conditions, competitor practices, and regulatory changes, ensuring the business remains responsive and aligned with evolving requirements.
  • Apply the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture thoughtfully in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations within the respective area, while maintaining strong day-to-day business controls to meet obligations relating to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk, and conduct risk, including responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Code of Conduct.
  • Contribute to a high-performing, respectful, and inclusive team environment, supporting the team’s vision, values, and business strategy.

Education / Experience

  • Undergraduate degree required, preferably in STEM or a related discipline such as Finance, Economics, or Business. An advanced degree or CFA designation is an asset.
  • Strong product knowledge and understanding of financial markets, with the confidence to apply expertise in a fast-moving trading environment.
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, booking systems, and trading protocols.
  • High level of integrity, sound judgement, and commitment to compliance.
  • Experience in Precious and Base Metals derivative trading.
