The Director of Commercial Planning & Performance Analytics plays a critical role in guiding the strategic direction of the commercial organization by delivering actionable, data-driven insights. This role partners closely with key teams including Sales, AAdvantage, and other cross-functional groups to support performance improvement, uncover growth opportunities, and ensure alignment with the company’s broader goals. By integrating business planning and performance analysis, the Director helps shape key commercial initiatives and ensures decisions are grounded in rigorous analytical thinking.

  • Lead a cross-functional team responsible for driving business planning and performance analysis across the commercial organization
  • Serve as a central partner for strategic forecasting, scenario planning, and performance tracking in collaboration with Loyalty, Sales, and Finance
  • Partner with Loyalty and cobrand teams to support financial modeling, revenue forecasting, and program performance evaluation
  • Collaborate with Sales to analyze account performance, identify commercial opportunities, and align planning efforts with revenue goals
  • Coordinate cross-departmental analysis and strategic reviews to inform commercial decision-making and long-range planning
  • Support the development of business cases for major commercial initiatives and ensure ongoing tracking of performance vs. plan
  • Drive continuous improvement in commercial planning processes, data integrity, and decision-support tools

All you'll need for success

  • Demonstrates the highest standards of ethics and integrity
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Data Analytics, Statistics, or equivalent quantitative experience
  • 7 years of experience in leadership roles
  • 5+ years of experience in customer centric roles
  • Strong understanding of airline economics preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work with leadership to identify, plan, and execute strategic initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to be highly collaborative, form consensus, build relationships, and work productively with a broad range of experienced professionals throughout the company
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multiple large-scale projects on an ongoing basis and adjust priorities, as necessary, to meet shifting deadlines in a dynamic work environment
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, negotiate skillfully, digest complex details, and use sound judgment and initiative in making decisions
  • Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for improvement, as well as proven success implementing strategic initiatives under time constraints
  • Demonstrated ability to perform both independently and as a team member, handle multiple assignments, complete projects on time, and perform under pressure
