Your new role

In the newly established role as Director for Commercial Execution & Business Development, you will be accountable for developing and executing commercial go-to-market strategies, with direct responsibility for sales. Reporting to the General Manager, the role drives salesforce excellence, identifies and scales strategic partnerships, and ensures high-quality, compliant educational engagement that expands customer reach, improves access, and supports treatment initiation and continuity of care.

In more details, your key accountabilities will be:

  • Drive commercial execution and sales growth, developing and implementing short-, mid- and long term commercial strategies that align with Novo Nordisk’s business objectives and drive revenue growth and market share
  • Lead the Commercial Execution team (direct reports and wider unit) and drive a strong performance culture, managing daily sales operations, budgets, forecasting and performance evaluation.
  • Hold overall responsibility for identifying, evaluating and securing new business opportunities and strategic partnerships, providing strategic direction and leadership to the Business Development team.
  • Drive the strategic direction for educational events, ensuring alignment with business priorities and cross-departmental objectives
  • Design and optimise sales channel strategies (including partnerships and ecommerce) and support go-to-market planning for new product launches
  • Own overall performance, budget management, and governance across commercial activities, ensuring effective resource allocation, regulatory compliance, and proactive risk management to maximize business impact.

The department

You will join a highly engaged and purpose‑driven organisation, united by a shared ambition to make a meaningful difference for patients. Our Norwegian affiliate consists of approximately 85 employees across sales, marketing, clinical, medical, and other functions.

As the new Commercial Excellence & Business Development Director, you will head up a department consisting of approximately 25 high performing employees, working both in field sales and inoffice functions.In addition you will be a member of the local Leadership Team, where you will promote an enterprise mindset and strong performance culture to ensure focused execution, rapid response to market developments, and continuous improvement across the commercial organization.

Your skills & qualifications

We are looking for an experienced leader that combines sharp strategic thinking with the ability to turn complex market insights into clear, actionable commercial plans. To succeed in the role you bring:

  • Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) is preferred.
  • Significant senior commercial leadership experience in pharma, healthcare, medtech, or another highly regulated industry
  • Strong understanding of the Norwegian healthcare landscape.
  • Proven track record in identifying growth opportunities, negotiating strategic partnerships, and executing commercial strategies
  • Experience leading in a competitive, fast-changing, and cross-functionally complex environment.
  • Budget ownership and people management experience is required.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Norwegian — capable of influencing senior stakeholders and external partners

You combine strong market awareness and business acumen with creativity and sound judgement, enabling you to identify growth opportunities, prioritise investments, and solve problems in innovative ways. You excel in building trust and influence through clear communication and effective negotiation. Highly execution‑driven, you manage multiple initiatives with confidence while remaining adaptable and resilient in changing environments. Above all, you are data-driven , collaborative, and impact‑oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
