General Statement of Job

The Director of College Connections and Admissions for Traditional Students provides technical and administrative leadership to the College for policy and practices in the enrollment, and student communication, including the development of short and long-range goals. Supervises the College Connections staff.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Provides strategic and administrative leadership for enrollment communications, student outreach, inquiry management, call center operations, and continuing student enrollment initiatives across the College.

  • Develops, implements, and continuously evaluates departmental procedures, workflows, and best practices related to enrollment communications, student outreach, virtual chat, call center operations, and student engagement.

  • Oversees the STC Call Center, Student Information Center virtual chat, website inquiry management, and other student communication channels serving prospective, current, returning, and stop-out students across the multi-campus district.

  • Directs, plans, evaluates, and supervises all operations, programs, initiatives, personnel, and services within the College Connections Department.

  • Plans, develops, and directs comprehensive training programs to ensure consistent customer service, communication standards, technology utilization, and operational effectiveness.

  • Ensures departmental compliance with applicable federal, state, and institutional laws, regulations, policies, and procedures governing enrollment services, student records privacy, communications, and customer service.

  • Collaborates with Enrollment Services, Academic Affairs, Communication and Creative Services, and other college departments to coordinate enrollment initiatives, communication strategies, outreach campaigns, and student engagement activities.

  • Provides strategic leadership and highly responsible administrative support to the Dean of Enrollment Services regarding enrollment communication strategies, outreach initiatives, operational performance, and student engagement.

  • Promotes a student-centered culture focused on exceptional customer service, responsiveness, accessibility, and continuous process improvement.

  • Plans, coordinates, and evaluates enrollment communication campaigns and outreach initiatives designed to increase inquiry conversion, admissions, financial aid completion, registration, payment, persistence, and student re-enrollment.

  • Monitors, analyzes, and reports enrollment communication effectiveness, student engagement metrics, inquiry response times, outreach outcomes, call center performance, enrollment trends, and key performance indicators to support institutional decision-making.

  • Collaborates with institutional stakeholders to develop and implement enrollment communication strategies, messaging, publications, digital content, and outreach materials that support student recruitment, enrollment, persistence, and re-engagement.

  • Supervises College Connections personnel, including call center, student outreach, inquiry management, and enrollment communications staff.

  • Maintains accountability for departmental budgets, operational resources, contracts, technology investments, and sound fiscal management.

  • Develops, implements, assesses, and continuously improves departmental programs, services, procedures, technologies, and operational effectiveness.

  • Recommends revisions to institutional policies, procedures, and operational practices related to enrollment communications, student engagement, inquiry management, and customer service.

  • Oversees the department's Institutional Effectiveness Plan, including assessment, strategic planning, performance measurement, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

  • Maintains current knowledge of higher education trends, enrollment management best practices, customer relationship management technologies, and applicable federal, state, and institutional regulations.

  • Recruits, hires, supervises, mentors, trains, schedules, and evaluates departmental personnel while fostering professional development and accountability.

  • Travels throughout the College district and represents the department at meetings, enrollment events, and institutional functions as needed.

  • Serves as a Campus Security Authority.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

  • Management experience in higher education enrollment management, admissions, student services, recruitment, enrollment communications, or related student success functions is required.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in higher education enrollment management, admissions, student services, enrollment communications, customer relationship management, or related administrative functions, including at least three (3) years of supervisory experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of enrollment management principles, student success strategies, and enrollment communication best practices.

  • Knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) systems, student communication platforms, call center operations, virtual engagement technologies, and workflow management systems.

  • Knowledge of Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board regulations and higher education enrollment practices.

  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws governing higher education, including FERPA and related student privacy requirements.

  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and institutional effectiveness principles, including The Commission on Colleges and Universities expectations.

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, project management, and strategic planning skills.

  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, measure outcomes, evaluate program effectiveness, and make data-informed recommendations.

  • Experience developing, implementing, and assessing student outreach, communication, and engagement initiatives.

  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and enterprise student information, CRM, and communication platforms.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, lead organizational change, and effectively supervise teams in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and community partners.

  • Demonstrated commitment to providing exceptional customer service and fostering a student-centered environment.

  • Ability to analyze complex operational issues, develop practical solutions, and implement continuous process improvements.

  • Ability to prepare comprehensive reports, policies, procedures, correspondence, strategic plans, and presentations.

  • Ability to effectively present information and communicate with executive leadership, governing boards, regulatory agencies, faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and make independent decisions within established policies and procedures.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, technologies, and institutional needs while maintaining operational excellence.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary and travel throughout the College district using reliable transportation.
