The Director Cloud & Application Security Platform Engineering leads the engineering, operations, and reliability of Optus’s cloud and application security platforms. The role manages a team of platform engineers and architects delivering cloud security posture management, DevSecOps automation, security as code solutions, application security testing, and enterprise encryption services to enable secure cloud adoption and software development.
This position ensures developers can deploy securely by default through automated infrastructure as code, CI/CD security controls, container security platforms, and continuous multi cloud security monitoring across AWS, Azure, and GCP. As a strategic platform leader, the Director drives security as code and shift left practices, balancing strong security controls with developer experience, agility, and business outcomes.
What You’ll Do
Lead engineering, operations, and reliability of cloud security across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
Provide continuous cloud risk visibility via integrated monitoring.
Build DevSecOps and security as code capabilities.
Embed application security at scale
Lead encryption strategy and high‑performing teams.
What makes you perfect for the role?
Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Security, Software Engineering or similar.
10+ years’ information security experience with deep expertise across cloud security, DevSecOps, CI/CD security, and secure software development.
Proven multi‑cloud and platform capability with hands on experience securing AWS, Azure, and GCP
Expertise in application security testing , encryption, key management, PKI, and cloud‑native security services.
Strong leadership and influence in leading high performing technical teams, with a developer centric mindset and a highly collaborative approach.
