We areseekingan experienced and strategic leader to join our team as Director, ClinicalEngineering — a key leadership role responsible for shaping the future ofclinical engineering services within CHEO and across our regional partnerships.

Reportingto the VP of Strategyand CIO, the Director,ClinicalEngineering providesstrategic and operational leadership forclinicalengineering services across the organization while overseeing CHEO’s regionalclinicalengineering service model.The Directoris responsible forproviding leadership to over70 employees within theclinical engineering service team, which provides service to 20 healthcare facilities at 30 sites along with up to 300 other clinical entitiesas well as CHEO servicesThis role is instrumental in ensuring the safe,reliableand efficient management of clinical technology that supports high-quality patient care across the hospital and partner organizations throughout the region.

The successful candidate will lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of departmental strategies, quality improvement initiatives, risk managementsystemsand operational priorities aligned with CHEO’s mission,valuesand strategic direction. As a trusted advisor to senior leadership, the Director contributesexpertiseto corporate planning and decision-making while ensuring biomedical engineering servicesremaininnovative,sustainableand responsive to evolving healthcare needs and legislative requirements.

This role requires a collaborative and forward-thinking leader who can build strong relationships across clinical,operationaland external stakeholder groups. The Director will work closely with internal departments, healthcare partners,vendorsand regional customers to support service excellence, equipmentreliabilityand long-term capital planning. The position also plays a critical role inidentifyingopportunities for operational efficiencies, cost savings and service enhancements related to clinical equipment procurement,maintenanceandutilization

The Director,ClinicalEngineeringis responsible forthe overall leadership and management of the department, including operational oversight, financialstewardshipand people leadership. This includes leading departmental planning, managing operating and capital budgets, overseeing contract negotiations and procurement processes,establishingperformancemetricsand ensuring the effective delivery of biomedical engineering services. The Director fosters a culture grounded in respect, accountability, wellbeing,safetyand continuous learning while supporting employee engagement,developmentand performance management.

The ideal candidate brings a strong combination ofstrategicleadership, operationalexcellenceand technical competence You are an experienced healthcare leader who can navigate complexenvironments, lead broad organizationalinitiativesand build trusted partnerships both internally and externally. You are comfortable balancing long-term planning with day-to-day operational demands and have a strong commitment to quality,safetyand service improvement.

Candidates mustpossessa university degree in a relevant discipline along with approximately ten years of related experience, including a minimum of five years in a management or leadership capacity. Equivalent combinations of education, training and demonstrated experience may also be considered. Experience within healthcare or biomedical engineering environments is strongly valued.

The successful candidate willdemonstrateexceptional analytical, communication and relationship-building skills, along with the ability to manage complex projects, lead multidisciplinary teams and oversee significant operational budgets. A strong understanding of healthcare technology management, procurement practices, quality standards and occupational health and safety legislation is essential. Depending on departmental needs, this position may be designated bilingual.
