Director, CEO Communications Operations

Location: Bloomfield, CT (relocation assistance may be available)
Function: Communications / CEO Communications Operations

The Cigna Group has an exciting opportunity for a strategic, highly organized and experienced communications operations leader to join the CEO Communications team. This individual will lead CEO Communications Operations, serving as the central point of coordination for the planning, preparation and execution of communications-related CEO activities, including internal and external engagements (including prep for external stakeholder meetings and events), site visits, town halls, leadership meetings, speaking engagements and other high-priority events.

The Director will be accountable for ensuring the Office of the CEO, Communications leadership and key business partners are aligned, prepared and equipped with the materials, logistics, messaging inputs and background information needed to support high-impact CEO engagements.

In addition, this role will be accountable for the development and execution of an Enterprise Leadership Team annual site visit plan. This plan should ensure the ELT are regularly engaging with employees through consistent, strategic and impactful market visits throughout the U.S. and globally.

The role requires sound judgment, exceptional project management, strong executive presence and the ability to operate with discretion, urgency and precision in a fast-paced, highly visible environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end CEO Operations function in support of CEO Communications, ensuring all CEO-related activities are well planned, coordinated and executed with excellence.
  • Partner closely with the Office of the CEO, Communications leadership and internal/external stakeholders to develop and deliver thorough briefing and background materials for CEO engagements, including site visits, town halls, leadership meetings, external speaking engagements and other priority activities.
  • Ensure the Office of the CEO and key business partners are prepared ahead of each communications activity, including alignment on objectives, audiences, agendas, timing, materials and follow-up needs.
  • Oversee the planning of CEO and senior executive visits to Cigna facilities and external sites in partnership with the broader team.
  • Take a lead role in conceiving, planning and implementing CEO-related events, including employee town halls, leadership meetings, internal/external speaking engagements and other high-priority forums.
  • Contribute to CEO communications planning and strategy by identifying operational needs, dependencies, potential risks and opportunities to improve preparation and execution.
  • Develop select communications materials, including invitations, letters, briefing notes, talking points, agendas and presentation inputs, in partnership with executive communications and business partners.
  • Support the design and development of executive presentation materials, ensuring content is accurate, polished, appropriately vetted and aligned with company priorities, brand and culture.
  • Build strong working relationships across the enterprise and serve as a trusted advisor and connector to support effective CEO engagement with employees, leaders, clients, partners and external stakeholders.
  • Establish and continuously improve processes, tools and routines that enable the CEO Communications team to manage CEO activities with greater consistency, efficiency and impact.
  • Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality, judgment and professionalism when handling sensitive information, executive materials and high-priority business matters.

Ideal Candidates Will Offer

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Journalism, English or a related discipline preferred.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in communications, executive operations, event planning, project management or a related field, ideally in a large, complex organization.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting senior executives or C-suite leaders in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with proven ability to manage complex workstreams, multiple priorities and tight deadlines with accuracy and urgency.
  • Strong executive presence and sound judgment, with the ability to operate confidently and professionally with senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop clear, concise and polished executive-facing materials.
  • Experience managing internal and external events, executive meetings, site visits, town halls or large-scale engagements.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams, functions and levels.
  • Experience leading high performing teams.
  • High comfort level with PowerPoint, Excel and other tools used to manage plans, presentations, briefing materials and project tracking.
  • Knowledge of health care, corporate communications, executive communications or large enterprise operations preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as needed in support of CEO activities and business priorities.
  • Ability to work from The Cigna Group office in Bloomfield, CT at least 3 days a week (relocation assistance may be available).


If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 152,300 - 253,800 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus and long term incentive plan.
