The Operations Transformation Program team, within the Operational Services Group, leads critical initiatives that reflect the firm’s priorities and advance our transformation objectives. Partnering across the business, the team defines and delivers end-to-end solutions that enhance the client experience while driving simplicity, scalability, and reusability. At the center of this work is the Operations Desktop program, a key enterprise priority focused on designing the future-state desktop experience for Operations professionals and key partners across Advisor Services, Investor Services, and Workplace Services.

As Director, Business Strategy, you will own and lead this highly visible program, shaping both the long-term vision and day-to-day execution. You will bring structure to complexity, defining strategy, navigating tradeoffs, and driving alignment across a diverse set of stakeholders, to ensure the program delivers meaningful, scalable outcomes for Operations. This includes leading the program through ambiguity to successful execution, partnering across functions to evaluate business needs, and translating strategy into actionable, enterprise-wide plans.

Success in this role requires strong executive communication and influence. You will develop and deliver compelling materials for senior leadership, lead executive-level forums, and provide transparency into program progress while guiding decisions on high-impact initiatives. In parallel, you will build trusted partnerships across Operations, Corporate Strategy, Technology, and client-facing teams, ensuring solutions reflect the full scope and complexity of the organization while delivering seamless client and representative experience.

You will also play a critical leadership role by coaching and developing a team of experienced professionals within a matrixed environment, fostering collaboration and accountability even when direct reporting relationships do not exist. Working closely with the Operations Transformation Office, Project Services, and Technology partners, you will drive program delivery with a strong attention to detail and a deep understanding of the broader organizational landscape.

Reporting to a Managing Director in Operations, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to large-scale, firmwide initiatives, connecting strategy, execution, and partnership to deliver meaningful transformation outcomes for the business and our clients.

  • 5+ years of leading teams with demonstrated coaching and people development skills.
  • Demonstrated experience operating at a director level, leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and/or organizations, with accountability for setting strategy, influencing senior stakeholders, and delivering enterprise-scale outcomes within a matrixed environment.
  • Prior experience leading large multi-year initiatives that required strategic thinking, planning, execution and change management.
  • Demonstrated deep knowledge in Operations, with a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end processes, performance drivers, and operational risk.
  • Strong analytical skills, creativity in problem solving, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability in developing materials and effectively communicating information.
  • Forward-looking mindset with a focus on long-term solutions that will meet the evolving needs of the business in the future.
  • Self-starter mindset with a willingness to jump in and learn, make quick decisions, and adjust as needed.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity in a dynamic and fast-moving work environment.
  • Personally, and professionally aligned with Schwab's vision and values, and a strong interest in financial services and industry leading practices and innovation.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Preferred:
