Job Description

Overall Job Purpose

A detail oriented and experienced professional with a strong background in accounting, legal, and regulatory compliance across India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, with in-depth knowledge of financial and statutory frameworks.

Professionally well networked within the logistics / supply chain industry and government/regulatorily authorities to lead and manage compliance, legal risks, taxation and respond to official notices.

The role also includes overseeing administrative and IT functions, driving business strategy, and ensuring alignment of operations with organizational goals while effectively navigating complex regulatory environments.

Compliance & Legal:

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, financial regulations, and statutory requirements applicable to logistics and supply chain operations in India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
  • Oversee compliance related to transportation, warehousing, customs, import/export, taxation, and trade regulations and implement appropriate internal controls and corrective measures.
  • Identify compliance risks and preventive measures.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, external auditors, consultants, and legal advisors to ensure regulatory adherence.

Financial & Accounting:

  • Financial planning, reporting and analysis
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Cash flow management
  • Monitor and interpret changes in financial, legal, and regulatory frameworks impacting logistics, freight, and supply chain activities.
  • Support audits, statutory filings, licensing, permits, and regulatory reporting across multiple jurisdictions in ISB.

Administration:

  • Administrative Governance: Oversee administrative functions including facilities, vendor management, and office services to ensure cost efficiency, compliance, and smooth business operations.
  • Policy & Controls: Establish and monitor administrative policies, internal controls, and approval frameworks aligned with financial governance and organizational budgets and standards.

IT:

  • Provide financial and governance oversight of local IT operations, coordinating with Head Quarters IT to ensure compliance, cost control, and alignment with organizational standards.

Business Strategy:

  • Partner with senior leadership to shape and execute business strategy through financial planning, performance analysis, and strategic decision support.
  • Act as a point of contact for regulatory bodies and government authorities related to logistics, trade, and compliance matters.

Team Management and Development:

  • Lead and mentor the finance-BA team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of the finance team.
  • Ensure effective succession planning and talent management within the finance function.

Qualifications and Technical Job Requirements

  • Overall 20+ years experience of which minimum 5+ years current work experience as a Director / CFO (strategy & compliance/ legal focused).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial compliance frameworks relevant to the logistics and supply chain industry in India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.
  • Proven legal and compliance background, preferably within logistics, transportation, warehousing, or cross-border trade.
  • Understanding of customs laws, trade compliance, indirect taxation (GST/VAT), and regulatory documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage compliance across multi-country operations.
  • Existing relationships or working knowledge within government authorities, or regulatory corridors will be a strong added advantage.
  • Experience in multinational logistics, freight forwarding, 3PL, or supply chain organizations.
