About the Role

AAQis a national team whoprovides support to the Audit & Assurance service linein all aspects of audit qualitymanagement.This includesensuring quality frameworks, policies and processes are implemented across service lines that perform assurance engagements.

The team helps divisions apply audit and assurance standards and BDO’smethodology, performs monitoring activities to ensure continued compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, evaluates and implements risk mitigation strategies, and works across service lines to ensure regulatory requirements are met.

About the Opportunity

The Director – AssuranceQualityis responsible forestablishingand maintainingaquality framework for assurance engagements conducted outside the Audit & Assurance service linethatcomplies withrelevant professional standards and meets quality expectations.

Working closely with service line leaders, engagementteamsandAAQ, the Director will develop a deep understanding of the assurance engagements performed throughout the firmThe rolewillprovide leadership in the development, implementation and oversight of assuranceframeworks,methodologies, monitoringactivitiesand remediation programsthat support consistent, high-quality engagement outcomes.

A key focus of the role is the establishment and operation of a firm-wide assurance engagement inspection program, including the identification of emerging risks, root cause analysis of quality findings and the development of targeted remediation and capability-building initiatives.

Key duties and responsibilities:

Assurance Methodology and Quality Framework

  • Develop andmaintainquality frameworks, methodologies, policies,guidanceand tools supporting assurance engagements conducted outside the Audit & Assurance service line.
  • Establish consistent quality expectations and engagement performance requirements across assurance service offerings.
  • Monitor changes to professional standards, regulatory requirements and industry practices and assess their implications for assurance methodologies.
  • Collaborate with service line leadership to embed quality requirements into engagement delivery processes.
  • Develop practical templates, guidance materials and resources that promote consistency,scalabilityand compliance across assurance engagements.
  • Facilitate technical consultations on assurancemethodologymatters and provide guidance on complex engagement issues.

Assurance Quality Monitoring

  • Build andmaintaina risk-based monitoring framework covering assurance engagements across the firm.
  • Develop quality indicators and reporting mechanisms to assess engagement quality andidentifyemerging risks.
  • Analysequality trends, inspection findings and consultation themes to identify areas requiring additional support or intervention.
  • Prepare reporting and insights for firm leadershipregardingthe effectiveness ofassurancequality processes.
  • Support service lines in responding to regulatory reviews, qualityassessmentsand other assurance-related inspections whererequired

Engagement Inspection Program

  • Design, implement and manage a firm-wide assurance engagement inspection program.
  • Determineinspection scope, selection criteria and review methodologies based on risk assessments and strategic priorities.
  • Lead or oversee engagement inspections to evaluate compliance with applicable standards,methodologiesand firm policies.
  • Communicate inspection findings to engagement teams and service line leadership in a constructive and practical manner.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting of inspection outcomes andmonitorclosure ofidentifiedactions.

Remediation and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead root cause analysis activities arising from inspection findings, qualityreviewsand other monitoring activities.
  • Design, implement and monitor remediation plans to address identified deficiencies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of remedial actions and recommend further improvements whererequired
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement across assurance practices.
  • Identifyopportunities to enhance methodologies,processesand quality management activities.

Learning and Capability Development

  • Partner with service lines and Learning & Development teams toidentifyassurance capability gaps and quality risks.
  • Develop targeted learning programs informed by inspection findings,monitoringactivities, technicalconsultationsand emerging assurance risks.
  • Design and deliver workshops, webinars, guidancematerialsand other learning resources.
  • Support assurance practitioners in developing technical capability and professional judgement.
  • Build communities of practice that encourage knowledge sharing and consistent application of assurance methodologies.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop strong working relationships with leaders across all assurance-performing service lines.
  • Act as a trusted advisor onassurancequality matters and quality management systems.
  • Facilitate collaboration between APPD, service line leadership and subject matter specialists.
  • Represent the firm in discussions with regulators, industrybodiesand professional associations whereappropriate
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the firm's assurance capabilities and reputation.

About You

Our successful candidate has a s trong background in external auditand assurancegained from a reputable professional services firm. Naturally, you will have a dvanced knowledge of International Standards on Auditingand Assurance as well as the following:

  • CA Qualified or equivalent
  • Experience in audit quality initiatives and activities, including file inspections, regulatory reviews, the design and production of resources, and the design and facilitation of learning sessions
  • An ability to build andmaintaineffective working relationships with stakeholders
  • Well-developedwritten and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders effectively
  • Experience developing and implementing strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management skills
