The role also owns Assurance management information and reporting, providing clear, consistent and insight-driven visibility of plan performance, resource utilisation, delivery status, coverage gaps and emerging portfolio risks along with reporting to senior governance forums such as GRC. Working with the Data & Analytics and Transformation team, the role supports data-led prioritisation and improved transparency of assurance activity across the global portfolio.
Acting as a senior member of the Professional Services team, the role works closely with Heads of Assurance, First Line Control Testing and Internal Audit to support a coordinated assurance approach across the lines of defence, ensuring alignment of assurance coverage, effective use of resources, and a clear, combined view of coverage across the Group. The role supports the function in remaining responsive to regulatory requests and other changes in the risk environment.
Strategy
• Support the delivery of a consistent, risk-based approach to assurance planning across the 2nd Line Assurance function
• Embed data-led prioritisation of assurance activity in partnership with Data & Analytics and Transformation teams
• Ensure assurance activity is focused on areas of highest importance, including Very High (VH) and High (H) risk exposures, material controls and control frameworks, important business services and resilience priorities and key regulatory and thematic risk areas
• Drive continuous improvement in planning, resourcing and performance oversight to ensure assurance coverage remains targeted, efficient and risk-aligned.
Business
• Lead and coordinate the annual assurance planning process across all 2nd Line Assurance teams.
• Consolidate planning inputs into a coherent global assurance plan.
• Provide effective challenge on plan development, including coverage of key risks, prioritisation of reviews and deliverability within available capacity.
• Maintain the approved plan and support in-year reprioritisation as required.
• Ensure incorporation of regulatory requests and thematic reviews and ad hoc or emerging assurance requirements.
• Maintain and actively manage a consolidated view of assurance coverage across the lines of defence.
Processes
• Operate and maintain frameworks for annual and rolling planning, prioritisation and risk inputs, resource allocation and tracking and portfolio monitoring and reporting.
• Ensure consistency in planning assumptions and approaches across assurance teams.
• Establish and maintain standards for timeline and milestone tracking, delivery monitoring and performance reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement of planning and portfolio management processes.
• Maintain processes that support an end-to-end view of activity across the lines of defence, supporting coordinated assurance.
People & Talent
• Oversee allocation of resources across assurance reviews.
• Ensure alignment between capability and skillsets and review requirements.
• Monitor utilisation, capacity constraints and resourcing gaps.
• Maintain oversight of delivery against the assurance plan.
• Identify and challenge delays, slippage and delivery risks.
• Work with Heads of Assurance to maintain delivery discipline across the portfolio.
Risk Management
• Identify and monitor risks to plan integrity, delivery timelines and resource capacity.
• Ensure that risks to the assurance plan are transparently reported to governance forums, with clear articulation of impact and mitigating actions.
• Support the development and enhancement of tools, analytics, and methodologies used to identify, assess, and manage execution risk across the assurance portfolio.
• Define and embed risk indicators to provide early warning of risks to plan execution, including delays, resourcing pressures, and changes in the risk environment.
Governance
• Provide structured, committee-ready reporting for senior forums, including Group Risk Committee (GRC) and other relevant committees.
• Provide structured updates to internal governance forums on plan status, delivery performance, resource position and emerging risks.
• Ensure transparency of planning assumptions and plan changes.
• Maintain appropriate documentation and audit trail for planning decisions.

• 8+ years of experience in audit, assurance, risk or COO roles within banking.
• Experience managing or supporting risk-based planning and portfolio oversight.
• Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and control environments.
