Title and Summary
Director, Analytics and Business Insights APEMEA
A Director, Analytics and Business (ABI) Insights APEMEA is responsible for identifying needs in and opportunities related to ABI capabilities; end-to-end delivery and maintenance of such capabilities. The role further involves stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration and creation of strategic and operational insights. The director is also responsible for management of European analytics community, ABI needs, priorities and pipeline. Being a director the person will also play a crucial part in development of best practices and uplifting other team members. The director role includes both hands-on and strategic thinking activities.
The candidate will be part of the team at the heart of Mastercard APEMEA’s data. Analytics and Business Insights team seeks to enable outstanding business results across APEMEA organization and Mastercard organization via analytics and data solutions, insights, alignment and process excellence. Main stakeholders of the team are APEMEA and regional management, sales and business development functions. The role reports into VP for ABI APEMEA. In view of the role’s European responsibilities, they will also have a dotted reporting line into head of Strategy & Business Excellence Europe.
The position will enable the candidate to be a part of strategic and transformational analytics and business insights projects for APEMEA regions at Mastercard. Furthermore, it will offer a unique perspective into regional level strategies and operations due to the role of a liaison for Europe region. In this role the candidate will take part in full cycle of ABI journey from ideas through implementation to roll-out and change management as well as subsequent maintenance around ABI capabilities. The role will include exposure to different aspects of Mastercard’s business, full suite of strategic KPIs and major strategic insights. Cooperating with stakeholders you will be able to understand first hand impact of our team on Mastercard’s business. As part of the team you will have exposure to Mastercard’s global network of data and analytics teams and individuals as well as subject matter experts in various areas.
Role
In this position, you will:
- Identify and formulate analytics needs and opportunities for business improvement via ABI
- Design, develop and deploy new ABI capabilities working directly with business stakeholders
- Manage stakeholder relationships
- Develop and promote best practice operational procedures
- Serve as a subject matter expert on ABI matters and their role in company’s strategy
- Perform data research and analysis at both operational and strategic levels as well as insight generation
- Prepare of business insight snippets and presentations
- Perform change management around ABI capabilities
- Lead and participate in cross-functional and cross-regional projects
- Manage European analytics and business insights community and pipeline
- Support and own maintenance, update and enhancement of existing data capabilities (dashboards, ETL flows, sematic models, etc)
- Conduct data testing and data reconciliation
- Conduct data tools and capabilities research and study
- Educate various stakeholders on data tools and capabilities
- Conduct data ETL (extract, transform, load) for various projects
- Manage various communications for the team at different levels including the executive one
All About You
The ideal candidate for this position should have the below profile and key requirements:
- Proven experience in Business Intelligence and stakeholder management in matrix organizations
- Payments industry, business roles and hybrid BI/business roles experience is a plus
- Ownership‑driven, results‑oriented, comfortable doing both strategic/design level and hands‑on tasks

- Fluency in math and passion for numbers (knowledge of business statistics is a plus)
- Experience with analytics tools such as Power BI, SQL, Python, Alteryx, Spark, Microsoft Fabric is a plus
- Software development experience is a plus (professionally or as a hobby)
- Strong PC user, advanced in Excel (with modeling) and PowerPoint
- Fluent in English
- MA/MSc in math, physics, engineering, finance, economy, or computer science is a plus
- Sense of humor
