Job Description

The Director, Aeroderivative Systems & Design Engineering leads a global engineering organization responsible for gas turbine and package development for the Aeroderivative business. This critical leadership role owns the allocation, management, and execution of approximately $86M in new product introduction (NPI) investments, in close partnership with internal Gas Power teams and external stakeholders including Aero Alliance JV, GE Aerospace, and Baker Hughes.

This leader is accountable for aero accessories and packaging, including both standard and customer-specific offerings, and for ensuring technical excellence across the full product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic and Technical Leadership

  • Set and execute the Aeroderivative engineering strategy across design & validation aligned with Product Line and Gas Power priorities.
  • Own GT/Package/Plant system integration and configuration control for Aeroderivative gas turbines and packages across the full product lifecycle.
  • Define and drive multi-year technology and product roadmaps for gas turbines and packages.
  • Lead execution for Aero industrialization aligned with LRF & MGPP/MGTP
  • Lead the strategy for introducing new products into active deals, with accountability for risk management, forecasting, and execution readiness.

Product Execution

  • Ensure on-time, high-quality technical execution of programs while meeting safety, quality, schedule, and financial objectives.
  • Advance key package technology improvements, including configuration simplification, compliance strategy, and instrumentation and controls simplification.
  • Drive quality improvement outcomes, including reducing customer escapes and improving first-pass yield.

Organizational Leadership and Governance

  • Lead a global, multi-disciplinary engineering organization, establishing vision, priorities, metrics, and operating mechanisms.
  • Build a customer-focused, high-accountability culture centered on safety, technical excellence, speed, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and retain top talent through robust succession planning, coaching, and leadership development.
  • Manage the Aero Engineering functional budget and key program investments.
  • Own technical management operating rhythms across the product lifecycle, including LCB, PCB, NPI Councils, and Product MORs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 10 years of technical and/or engineering leadership experience in gas turbine product engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • Cross-functional technical experience in Aeroderivative engine development and/or Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine Design Centers of Excellence.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership experience in complex engineering environments.
  • Recognized technical expertise in gas turbine engineering, including component and/or system design accomplishments.
  • Strong knowledge of gas turbine equipment with demonstrated technical credibility.
  • Proven success leading large NPI programs and managing complex technical portfolios.
  • Experience defining and managing technical programs in a dynamic business environment.
  • Strong business acumen, decision-making capability, and ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of current Gas Power products, tools, processes, and organizational structure.
  • Inclusive leadership style with a strong focus on collaboration, accountability, and achieving the best technical solution.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $204,000 and $306,000 USD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
