Your New Role: As Director of Engineering, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of technology solutions that support WBD’s advertising and media platforms. This role focuses on driving engineering excellence, ensuring scalability and reliability of systems, and partnering with product and business teams to deliver impactful solutions. You will manage engineering teams, foster innovation, and contribute to modernization initiatives that enable automation and improved monetization across platforms.

Your Role Accountabilities:

Engineering Leadership & Delivery Lead multiple engineering teams with clear ownership of delivery, quality, and operational reliability. • Drive predictable execution across complex, cross-system initiatives • Establish strong ownership culture with clear accountability for outcomes • Balance speed of delivery with long-term platform sustainability • Build and mentor high-performing teams; develop future leaders Expectation: owns delivery and outcomes, not just execution

System Design & Implementation Own architecture and design decisions for scalable, high-performance AdTech systems across linear and digital ecosystems. • Design distributed systems for ad serving, decisioning, targeting, and measurement in such a manner that it is a fault tolerant, high available/scalable system • Make pragmatic trade-offs between latency, scalability, cost, and reliability • Ensure systems are extensible to support evolving monetization models • Stay hands-on enough to review designs, challenge assumptions, and unblock teams Expectation: not coding daily, but technically sharp enough to raise the bar

Platform Modernization & Optimization Drive the evolution of core AdTech platforms from fragmented solutions to cohesive, reusable systems. • Build and scale platforms (ad decisioning, identity, measurement, experimentation) • Build truly Agentic AI based system using latest AI tools such as langchain, MoE etc • Reduce duplication through standardization and clear abstractions • Lead modernization of legacy systems into modular, cloud-native architectures • Improve system observability, reliability, and cost efficiency

Cross-Functional Collaboration Act as a bridge between engineering, product, operations, and business stakeholders. • Drive alignment in ambiguous, high-stakes scenarios • Communicate technical decisions in clear business terms • Influence roadmap and prioritization beyond engineering scope • Navigate conflicts and bring teams to resolution Expectation: reduces friction, increases clarity.

Governance & Best Practices Establish strong engineering discipline with a focus on security, privacy, and regulatory compliance. • Ensure adherence to security standards (SOX compliance) • Standardize development practices, code quality, and release processes • Maintain documentation and architectural clarity • Build systems that are scalable and compliant

Qualifications & Experience • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in leadership roles managing teams and delivering complex systems. • Proven track record in designing and scaling enterprise-grade platforms, preferably in media, advertising, or related industries. • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern architectural patterns (microservices, APIs). • Strong understanding of system performance, reliability, and cost optimization. • Excellent communication skills to influence stakeholders and align technical solutions with business objectives. • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline required; PhD or advanced cloud/data certifications preferred.
