Job Description

Director, Accounting & Financial Controls

We are seeking an experienced Director, Accounting & Financial Controls to lead our global accounting and financial control organisation.

Reporting to the CFO, the role leads a team of 40+ FTEs across 20 global subsidiaries and is a key member of the Finance leadership team. The position combines responsibility for financial reporting, controls and tax with a strong mandate to lead, develop and transform the global finance organisation.

Operating with a listed bond on a regulated market in a private equity-owned environment, Nynas combines a dynamic, performance-driven culture with high expectations on governance, transparency and financial reporting. This creates an exciting setting for a finance leader who thrives in complex international environments.

This position is based in Stockholm.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Have overall responsibility for Group accounting, consolidation, financial controls, external reporting and tax.
  • Drive transformation initiatives across accounting and financial controls, including standardisation, simplification, automation and process optimization.
  • Lead the preparation of external reporting for the Group’s listed bond, including annual and interim reporting.
  • Oversee Group tax matters, including compliance, planning and risk management, working with internal and external specialists as required.

  • Ensure consistent application of IFRS, Group accounting policies and financial controls across all subsidiaries.
  • Lead the external audit and manage relationships with auditors and key advisers.
  • Act as a trusted partner to the CFO, senior management and Board on significant financial matters.

  • Strengthen capabilities across the global Finance organisation through talent development, clear accountability and effective performance management.

About you

You are an experienced finance leader with a strong foundation in accounting, financial reporting and controls, combined with a genuine passion for leading people and driving transformation.

You have successfully led large geographically dispersed teams and know how to create engagement, accountability and performance in an international environment. Equally comfortable discussing technical accounting matters as leading organizational change, you bring both strategic perspective and operational execution.

To succeed in this role, you likely have:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in finance leadership roles within international organizations.
  • Strong IFRS, consolidation, external reporting, financial controls, ERP, and tax experience; preferably in a company manufacturing products with a global supply chain.
  • Experience working in an environment with demanding stakeholders, such as private equity ownership, listed debt, publicly listed companies or similarly regulated settings.
  • A recognized accounting qualification or equivalent professional experience.
  • A track record as a team player with strong communication and stakeholder management skills and the ability to build credibility at Executive and Board level.

  • Fluency in both Swedish and English.
  • Experience of holding a similar senior finance leadership position in Sweden, including knowledge of Swedish reporting, governance, tax and audit practices.

What we offer

This is an opportunity for an accomplished finance leader to take ownership of a substantial global organisation and play a central role in the continued transformation and development of the Finance function.
