DSP (Direct Support Professional) 

Full-Time, Melrose Park, IL

7:00am-3:30pm

Hourly Rate: $22.59 plus shift differential

Hope is a clinical, educational, and therapeutic provider for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. We exist to help children and their families reach their maximum potential by providing state-of-the-art applied behavioral analysis therapies and access to recreation, vocational training, and individualized education programming. We operate out of four separate 501c(3) nonprofit companies and have locations across 7 states. Our mission is supporting individuals and families in achieving optimum growth, independence, and joy.

Hope Residential Academy in Melrose Park is a new Hope facility that will provide congregate residential care for children with multiple disabilities between the ages of 5-21. The DSP position, titled Habilitation Specialist, functions in a broad capacity to serve our residents while supporting our residential and operational needs.

 WHAT YOU WILL DO 

  • Provide supervision, program implementation and documentation surrounding the daily living needs and routines for assigned children
  • Assist children with activities of daily living such as eating, dressing, feeding, toileting and personal hygiene needs
  • Engage children in activities that support the goals of their Individual Support Plan and ensure they achieve maximum levels of independence
  • Maintain a valid IL driver's license and provide DCFS approved transportation services for medical appointments and field trips
  • Support residential operations through mandatory overtime shifts as needed

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • A Valid IL Driver’s License & ability to qualify as a DCFS driver
  • Successful background clearance, physical, agility test, and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Lift, push, pull and/or carry 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, grasp, reach, stoop, crouch, crawl and run.
  • Ability to work weekends and mandatory overtime
