Advocates Incorporated is seeking a Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to support a friendly and active boy with a developmental disability. He and his family are looking for a Mentor to assist him with working on his goals both at home and in his community.
Goals include:
• Social skills - making community connections, friendships, supporting positive communication interactions
• Independent living skills - supporting the individual with learning to be independent with household chores, cooking, cleaning, and daily living skills
• Hobbies and interests - supporting the individual with participating in hobbies such as visiting local parks, beaches, collecting fossils, minerals, and gemstones, arts & crafts, games, etc.
Seeking a DSP who is reliable, enthusiastic, and active. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required. Please respond with a resume or summary of experience.
Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address.
Hours and days of work
This is a part-time position for 4 hours per week supporting this individual. Schedule flexible to afterschool hours during the week or anytime on Saturday/Sunday -- time and day flexible dependent upon availability.
Additional staffing opportunities for part or full-time positions may also be available within the agency.
Pay rate: $19.30 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16 per hour.
