Job Description

Direct Support Professional - Must have a basic understanding and ability to use ASL, as well as a desire to continue learning

Schedule: 43 Hours- Tuesday 12pm-3pm, Wednesday 3pm-10pm, Thursday 1pm-10pm (awake), 10pm-12am (asleep), Friday 12am-6am (asleep), 6am-9am (awake), Saturday 9am-10pm

Pay Rate: $23.50 - $24.50/hr. depending on experience and certification (FA/CPR & MAP)

Location: Swampscott Massachusetts

Sleep Rate $15/hr

To provide quality living supports and be responsive to individuals living in residential programs or independently. Teach, support and facilitate choices for people in their homes and within their communities. In this home we have four ladies who communicate using American Sign Language.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provide Direct Care and support the clinical and social needs of the individuals' receiving services.
  • Document accurately and thoroughly including in Inter-Team Communication Logs, Health Records, Daily Data Books and Fire Drill Logs as outlined in Northeast Arc Policy and Procedures
  • Serve as a role model for individuals and assist in developing social skills.
  • Provide opportunities for individuals to have choices, whenever possible
  • Facilitate meaningful community experiences for each individual that fosters skill acquisition, relationship building and independence.
  • Provide hands-on support at the home, including individualized supports in transferring, bathing and grooming, and following specific dining protocols and treatments.
  • Administer medications according to Northeast Arc Policies and Procedures and MAPs Regulations. Support Drs appointments, ER and hospital visits and contact on-call nursing appropriately.

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license required for most positions.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, stand for periods of time, bend, push wheelchairs, provide physical intervention as necessary.
  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Current CPR/FA & MAP certification (Preferred) but not required.
  • Must have a basic understanding and ability to use ASL, as well as a desire to continue learning

The Northeast Arc residence is home to four deaf women who have all lived together for many years. The ladies love decorating the home, cooking, and going out into their community. This role is perfect for someone who wants to help these residents live active and inclusive lives.
