Job Description

Define and execute the direct material sourcing strategy for the assigned commodity group within GEV Gas Power, ensuring Safety and Quality, reliable delivery to support operations, and cost efficiency. Partner closely with local teams to enable seamless production and customer satisfaction. Lead internal and external supply chain improvement initiatives to enhance effectiveness and strengthen cross-functional collaboration. Make strategic sourcing decisions for Aero New Units Projects spend, with selected cases requiring prior approval from the Senior Strategic Sourcing Leader – Aero New Unit Projects.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Commodity Strategy:

  • Identify and assess supplier capabilities and capacities for sub-commodities according to business need.
  • Develop and execute strategy, manage target supplier panel (commodity landscape) to maximize supply chain security, expand capacity wherever applicable and maximize cost savings.
  • Conduct competitive bidding for strategic supplier selection.
  • Leverage cross-functional teams to enhance negotiation outcomes based on "should cost" principles.
  • Negotiate long-term agreements with strategic suppliers.

Supplier Development and Relationship Management:

  • Own the strategic supplier relationship and development process.
  • Initiate and lead strategic supplier qualifications in collaboration with supplier quality and engineering teams.
  • Define and enhance existing and new supply base capabilities to improve quality, service levels, fulfillment, reduce cycle time and achieve cost savings.
  • Work with regional strategic sourcing teams to identify Near Shore Development (NSD) and localization opportunities.
  • Leverage cross-GEV business commodity strategies to drive synergies and efficiencies.

Operational Excellence:

  • Collaborate with materials management team in order to
    • Improve suppliers’ delivery performance (OTD)
    • Reduce risk of manufacturing shortages
    • Support vendor billback process
    • Shorten supplier cycle times
  • Implement proactive supply chain actions which results flexible supply chain and necessary capacity

Project and Program Management:

  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing in New Product Implementation (NPI) projects to define supply chain strategies.
  • Communicate the sourcing strategy and hand over negotiated capacity expansion and savings projects to site commodity and fulfillment teams for execution.
  • Ensure compliance with Quality and Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) rules across all projects and operations

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Active participation in mandatory EHS trainings and events.
  • Follow EHS rules and ensure others adhere to them.
  • Shut down operations if there is a risk of life or serious injury.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education:

  • BS/BA degree (Technical or Business preferred)

Experience:

  • Significant experience in Strategic Sourcing
  • Previous manufacturing/sourcing and negotiation experience

Competencies

  • Working knowledge of ERP Systems, including Business Intelligence tools (Tableau)
  • Strong skills in MS Office Applications (including MS Access)
