Direct Origination - Equipment Finance

Altius Search Group is conducting a confidential search for a direct originator with a proven record of sourcing and closing equipment finance business.

Our client is an equipment finance company that deploys its own capital. This is a hands-on opportunity to build a book of business across robotics, defense technology, physical AI, automation, advanced manufacturing, and other essential markets. Transactions range from approximately $500,000 to $50 million and involve large-ticket equipment with durable collateral value.

The Opportunity

You will develop borrower and referral relationships, identify financing opportunities, and lead transactions from initial discussion through funding. You will work directly with leadership and credit on structures for customers that may not fit conventional bank underwriting, including non-investment-grade, unrated, growth-stage, turnaround, and sponsor-backed businesses.

Responsibilities

• Personally source and close equipment finance loans and leases.
• Build a qualified pipeline through direct borrower and referral relationships.
• Assess the customer, equipment, sponsorship, transaction structure, risks, and repayment plan.
• Coordinate with credit, underwriting, and documentation teams to move transactions through funding.
• Develop a sustainable book of business and provide market insight as the company expands into new industries.

Requirements

Qualifications

• A demonstrated record of personally originating and closing equipment finance transactions.
• Relevant funded production and the ability to distinguish business you sourced from business assigned or referred to you internally.
• Experience with non-investment-grade or other nontraditional credits.
• Relationships that can support future direct origination.
• Experience financing essential-use or mission-critical equipment.
• A self-directed, collaborative approach and comfort building business without an inherited territory.

Compensation and Growth

The base salary is $100,000–$120,000, depending on experience, plus a commission of 1% of gross funded volume. There is potential to build a team after establishing a significant and sustainable book of business.
