Perform all aspects of welding, brazing and cutting using gas and electric welding equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Fabricate product by cutting, burning and welding various materials
• Repair equipment by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment
• Use cutting and bending equipment to configure material to size and shape
• Clean and prepare surfaces to be welded (set up, assemble and tack weld)
• Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly
• Train associates as required
• Notify supervisor of non-conforming product
• Notify supervisor of unsafe equipment or work practices
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
• General knowledge of machinery as applicable to metal-working industry
• Six (6) to seven (7) years prior experience in metal-working industry
• Vocational training and/or high school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus relevant experience
• Knowledge of welding operations
• Knowledge of the use of hand tools
• Knowledge of shop operations
• Ability to follow direction
• Ability to read blueprints
• Ability to work in conjunction with other employees
• Good mechanical skills
• Thorough understanding of basic mathematics
• Ability to recognize problems as they may occur in a job procedure
