Job Description

Direct Care Professional Behavioral Health Adult Day Treatment — $19.00/hour - $28.00/hour to start. AWARE · Hamilton, Montana · Full-time

AWARE is seeking a compassionate and motivated Behavioral Health Day Treatment direct care professional to support adults living with Severe and Disabling Mental Illness (SDMI). Under the supervision of the program supervisor and clinical guidance of a licensed professional, this position provides structured, community-based individual and group services focused on promoting mental health stability, personal growth, and greater independence.

The direct care professional helps individuals build essential life skills, including emotional regulation, coping strategies, crisis management, socialization, independent living, and vocational readiness. Through therapeutic activities, psychosocial rehabilitation, and individualized support, this role empowers individuals to recognize their strengths, achieve treatment goals, and participate more successfully in their communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide structured individual and group therapeutic activities that promote mental health stability, independence, and personal growth.
  • Support individuals in developing coping, emotional regulation, socialization, daily living, and vocational skills.
  • Implement individualized treatment interventions and monitor progress toward established treatment goals.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive environment and respond appropriately to behavioral health crises.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams, families, and community partners to support coordinated care.
  • Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation while meeting program expectations, productivity benchmarks, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in required training, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development.

Requirements

Talents, skills, and abilities:

  • Ability to implement individual treatment plans under AWARE's Unconditional Care Philosophy, incorporating trauma-informed behavioral techniques, interventions, and skill-building strategies while understanding and honoring the emotional and behavioral needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Basic computer literacy, including navigation, recording, and use of performance-based software and electronic medical records systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to collaborate as a team member, make accurate observations, report them e-ectively, learn supportive care methods, and follow instructions—all while building trust and promoting empowerment.
  • A High School Diploma or HSE is required, along with past employment experience.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a valid Montana Driver's License, with an acceptable driving record. Must pass a criminal and protective services background check.
