Job Description

Seeking an experienced Director of Technical Marketing with a strong background in memory subsystems, semiconductor products, and ecosystem enablement. The Director will serve as the technical bridge between customers, ecosystem partners, engineering, product management, and business development teams to accelerate the adoption of Rambus memory interface chip solutions.

The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of server and client memory architectures, memory interface chips, DRAM modules, processor ecosystems, and emerging technologies such as DDR6 and MRDIMM. This individual must be capable of translating complex technical requirements into clear product and marketing collateral, developing trusted relationships with industry partners, and helping drive technical engagement strategies that position Rambus solutions for long-term success.

The candidate will be part of Rambus' Memory Interface Chips Business Unit Marketing & Business Development organization and will be responsible for technical product positioning, product requirements development, ecosystem enablement, standards engagement, customer technical communications, and strategic technology assessment. The role requires close collaboration with product management, engineering, applications engineering, sales, and industry partners throughout the product lifecycle.

Rambus offers a flexible work environment, embracing a hybrid approach for the majority of our office-based roles. We encourage employees to spend an average of at least three days per week working onsite, allowing for two days of remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, publish, and maintain Product Requirements Documents (PRDs) for memory interface chip products in collaboration with product management throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Author, edit, and publish technical product collateral including product briefs, datasheets, application notes, technical white papers, presentations, and customer-facing communications while leveraging AI-assisted content development tools to enhance productivity and effectiveness.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface to processor vendors and SoC enablers building strong technical relationships across the ecosystem.
  • Develop and maintain a broad network of technical contacts within ecosystem partners to understand platform roadmaps, memory technology transitions, qualification requirements, and future market opportunities.
  • Lead technical preparation and content development for quarterly technical reviews and strategic customer engagements.
  • Track ecosystem enablement activities, including module submissions, validation progress, approved vendor list (AVL) status, qualification milestones, and resolution of technical issues affecting product adoption.
  • Collaborate closely with Applications Engineering teams to develop and communicate technical notes, interoperability guidance, best practices, and product updates for ecosystem partners and end users.
  • Partner with design engineering, validation, and test engineering to publish self-test data, characterization results, and other supporting technical documentation required by customers and partners.
  • Act as liaison to Rambus JEDEC representatives to ensure standards developments are reflected in product planning and business strategies, while communicating customer and market requirements into industry working groups.
  • Develop compelling technical positioning and competitive messaging that clearly communicates the advantages of Rambus memory interface chip solutions, including RCDs, PMICs, SPD hubs, MRDIMM chipsets, and future product offerings.
  • Create technical collateral that supports product launches, customer engagements, sales enablement, industry conferences, standards activities, and analyst interactions.
  • Develop and deliver technical education and training programs for customers, ecosystem partners, sales teams, and internal stakeholders, particularly around emerging technologies such as DDR6, MRDIMM, next-generation memory interfaces, and advanced power delivery architectures.
  • Participate in cross-functional customer support and RMA Tiger Teams, providing technical leadership to accelerate issue resolution and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Engage with business partners, system architects, and technical leaders to identify future product opportunities and assess technology feasibility, ecosystem readiness, customer requirements, and business value.
  • Monitor industry trends, standards developments, competitive technologies, processor roadmaps, and memory ecosystem dynamics to identify opportunities for future product innovation and differentiation.
  • Serve as the resident technical expert within the Marketing & Business Development organization, providing authoritative guidance on memory technologies, ecosystem dynamics, standards, product capabilities, and customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in the semiconductor industry with significant focus on memory subsystems, server architecture, memory interface chips, DRAM technologies, memory modules, or related markets.
  • Strong understanding of DDR5, DDR6, RDIMM, MRDIMM, memory power delivery architectures, memory interface chips, and server memory ecosystem requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience working with processor vendors, SoC companies, DRAM suppliers, module manufacturers, hyperscalers, OEMs, and ODMs.
  • Experience developing technical requirements, product collateral, technical documentation, training materials, and customer-facing technical communications.
  • Working knowledge of JEDEC standards processes and the memory industry ecosystem.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and training skills with the ability to communicate effectively to engineers, architects, executives, customers, and partners.
  • Strong ability to synthesize technical information, identify market implications, and communicate recommendations across technical and business audiences.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships across organizational boundaries and influence decisions without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across engineering, product management, applications engineering, sales, operations, and business development organizations.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally to support customers, partners, standards activities, and industry events.
