The Director of Finance & Accounting manages and coordinates financial planning, data analytics, and accounting functions for the Rose Hills market. This role oversees the preparation and presentation of financial reports and business analysis to senior management and provides support to and collaborates with other Rose Hills locations and departments. The Director also acts as a liaison between Rose Hills and corporate departments, including Finance, Accounting, Sox Team, Strategic Pricing, and Ad Hoc Reporting groups.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership and management for the Accounting, Finance, and Procurement team, including direct oversight of the Manager of Finance & Data Analysis, Supervisor of Warehouse & Receiving & Buyer, and 7 front line associates.
  • Oversees the creation, modification, and maintenance of standard and non-standard SQL queries for financial reporting, ad hoc reporting, and business analytics to deliver meaningful insight into business performance.
  • Oversees accounting & procurement functions within the market, including:
    • Month-end close journal entries
    • Accounts payable
    • Accounts receivable for key vendors and strategic partners
    • Product and account reconciliation / variance analysis
    • Internal controls and field assessments
    • Procurement of indirect goods and services
    • Fixed Asset budgeting, acquisition, analysis, and reporting
  • Collaborates with senior management and department managers to understand strategic goals, reporting requirements, and business problems or opportunities, and develops data-driven analysis for benchmarking, ongoing monitoring, and operational improvement.
  • Oversees and collaborates with Manager of Finance & Data Analysis, senior management, and operational Managers to build annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Oversees and collaborates with Manager of Finance & Data Analysis, senior management, and operational Managers to build price change recommendation, analysis, and implementation.
  • Oversees and leads financial reviews to deliver financial results, competitor analysis, market trends, and summary analysis with commentary, in both written form and live presentation to the leadership team or full management team.
  • Leads requirements-gathering sessions related to strategic goals and business problems or opportunities.
  • Serves as subject matter expert on available data sources and their relative accuracy compared to the General Ledger and OPA reporting tool.
  • Develops quality assurance procedures and maintains understanding of relevant systems and business processes to validate data collection, analysis, and reporting prior to distribution or presentation.
  • Develops, updates, distributes, and ensures follow-through of list of Accounting and Reporting activities monthly.
  • Stays current on the latest business analysis methods, tools, and technology.
  • Prioritizes initiatives based on business needs and requirements to ensure timely completion; provides regular status reports on initiatives and projects to management.
  • Engages with and contributes to team efforts by proactively communicating and completing assigned tasks on time and as needed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Computer Science) or equivalent work experience required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced skills in Excel and other accounting/financial software.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP with full-cycle accounting experience (AP, AR, general ledger, fixed assets).
  • Strong analytical skillset, including data integration, reporting and analytics, BI tools, and databases.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, inquisitive, and able to solve complex problems.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Highly organized with strong time-management skills.
  • Clear and concise verbal presentation and written communication skills.
  • Requires 60-80 percent of time spent in office

  • SQL
  • Excel and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Data analysis and business analysis tools
