About The Service

Nestled in the tranquil bushland of the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) Lucas Heights Campus (South of Sydney near Menai), KU ANSTO Children's Centre offers a truly special opportunity for passionate early childhood educators.

Our purpose-built long day care service caters to children aged 6 weeks to 6 years, designed specifically to support the families of ANSTO employees. On-site parking is available, making it convenient for educators with their own transport

The environment, both indoors and outdoors has been thoughtfully crafted to inspire curiosity, exploration, and a lifelong love of learning. Its standout outdoor learning spaces use a loose parts play philosophy, encouraging children to explore, create, problem-solve, and develop resilience through open-ended interaction with natural and recycled materials

We specialise in:

• The implementation of RIE®‘s educational approach, referred to as ‘Educaring’, an approach to working with infants and toddlers based on demonstrated respect in every interaction with them.
• 'Circle of Security', 'Attachment Theory' and ‘Play Spaces’ practices.
• Sustainable practices and environmental awareness issues in Early Childhood education.
• Supporting the Aboriginal community partnership with the Gujaga Foundation for the implementation of the Dharawal Language Program

About The Role

We have an opportunity for an educator with a completed Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care qualification to join the team. This is a permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday (8 hours per day) on a rotating roster while accruing ONE monthly rostered day off

About the criteria:

Along with relevant working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Frameworks (EYLF) and a sound understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011), you will need:

• To be able to work Monday to Friday (8 hours per day) on a rotating roster
• Australian working rights
• A current and valid NSW Working with Children Check
• An ACECQA recognised Certificate III qualification
• A National Child Safety Training Certificate
• A completed training in Child Protection (CHCPRT025) and an understanding of the legislation and its implications for the care and protection of children

Ideally you will have;

• A genuine willingness to learn and implement the RIE® philosophy (‘Educaring’), demonstrating respect in all interactions with infants and toddlers
• A willingness to engage with and apply Circle of Security (CoS)®, Attachment Theory, and ‘play spaces’ practice, supporting a relationship-based approach to children’s learning and emotional wellbeing
• Completion of a Circle of Security Foundations course, or a willingness to undertake training, will be highly regarded
• An emerging or developing understanding of relationship-based pedagogy, with a commitment to strengthening skills in interpreting and responding to children’s cues and behaviours
• A willingness to learn about and embed sustainable practices and environmental awareness within the program
• A strong commitment to Aboriginal community partnerships, including supporting the Dharawal Language Program in collaboration with the Gujaga Foundation
