Job Description

Dorrigo Community Preschool, a respected community preschool that has supported children and families for more than 50 years, is seeking a Diploma-qualified Educator to join its welcoming team.

This position is available from Term 3 and is initially offered as a 12-month maternity leave contract, with the possibility of extension. Part-time and full-time applicants are welcome to apply.

About the service

Dorrigo Community Preschool is a well-established not-for-profit kindergarten located on the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales, approximately one hour from Coffs Harbour and Nambucca Heads.

Licensed for 30 children aged 3–5 years, the preschool holds a special place within the Dorrigo Plateau community and is guided by a philosophy that recognises:

  • children as capable, resourceful and active constructors of their world
  • families as children's first and most influential teachers
  • The Gumbaynggirr people as Traditional Owners of the land
  • The importance of strong, respectful relationships

The service is led by an experienced and supportive Director and has built a reputation for providing high-quality early childhood education within a warm and welcoming community environment.

About the role

In this role, you will work collaboratively with the team to:

  • Plan and deliver engaging play-based learning experiences
  • Contribute to the planning cycle, observations and reflective practice
  • Build warm, respectful relationships with children and families
  • Support children's learning, wellbeing and development in a preschool setting
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative and professional team culture
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning and quality improvement initiatives

You will join an experienced and supportive team committed to providing high-quality early childhood education and care for children aged 3–5 years.

What you bring

  • Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care (or actively working towards)
  • Experience working in an Australian early learning service
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification
  • Valid NSW Working With Children Check
  • Strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standard
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A reflective, team-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work within sessional preschool operating hours (08:30-16:00)
