The Dining Room Manager is responsible for the overall operation, coordination, appearance and maintenance of front of the house dining operations to include but not limited to staffing, training, event coordination, safety, resident satisfaction and service delivery.
This is a full time, onsite, position located in Woodland Hills, California.
Compensation: $75,000 - 80,000 plus 10% annual bonus potential.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
Leadership
- Promotes and demonstrates the community’s STAR Core Values.
- Routinely engages team members on personal development plans (Talent Development Reviews).
- Strong communication and relationship skills to effectively lead team members and handle difficult situations in a fast-paced environment.
- Develops strong resident relations by listening and responding timely.
Human Resources
- Responsible for hiring, training, coaching and performance management of the front of the house team members.
- Educates staff on proper safety protocols to minimize staff injuries.
- Trains staff on general restaurant procedures and infection control standards.
- Responsible for effective scheduling to deliver quality service to Residents.
- Schedules daily work assignments for all dining room personnel, assigning specific jobs and spot checking to ensure standards are met.
- Maintains pertinent and appropriate records, files, schedules and studies.
- Supervises and counsels dining room personnel.
- Ensures staff members are properly trained and appropriately skilled.
- Provides staff education in accordance with the staff education plan, and provides on-the-job training for dining room personnel.
Administrative/Financial/Management
- Supervises the physical appearance of the dining room area and wait stations.
- Works with the F&B Director to handle any complaints and find solutions.
- Assists in development, implementation and maintenance of written dining room service objectives and standards of practice with procedures for implementation.
- Coordinates staff for special functions and large parties. These duties will also require knowledge of event set-up and operation.
- Manage and comply with labor budget, overtime, meal and rest breaks.
- Comply with California Labor Laws.
- Other duties as assigned by department director.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years supervisory experience in “front of house operations” in a hotel, restaurant, or club; fine dining experience preferred.
- Previous working experience in a long term care facility preferred.
- A high school graduate/GED. Courses in hospitality management or dining room operations from college or trade school preferred.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.
- Ability to work in close cooperation with Residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisors and peers. Requires courtesy, tact and graciousness.
- ServSafe certified.
