The Opportunity

Join Monash University Accommodation as our Dining Room & Functions Supervisor and play a key role in delivering outstanding dining and event experiences for residents, guests and visitors. Supporting the day-to-day coordination of Front-of-House operations across Halls Café, catered events and functions, you will coordinate service delivery, guide Front-of-House staff and help create a welcoming environment while ensuring high standards of quality, efficiency and food safety.

This position will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of Halls Café, function rooms and catered events to ensure a consistently high standard of service. You will coordinate Front-of-House activities, oversee service setup and pack-down, maintain food presentation standards and respond to routine customer enquiries, escalating operational matters where required. Working closely with the Food Services Coordinator (Front of House), you will supervise and coordinate Front-of-House staff during service periods, ensuring compliance with food safety, health and safety, and operational procedures. The role also includes monitoring facilities and equipment, maintaining operational records, supporting stock monitoring and inventory control, assisting with function preparation and logistics, and providing customer insights and service feedback to support continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role you will have proven experience in a Front-of-House dining and functions environment, with demonstrated ability to coordinate service delivery across cafés, catered events and functions. You will bring strong knowledge of food safety and health and safety requirements, excellent organisational and time management skills, and the ability to lead, mentor and motivate Front-of-House teams. You will be a confident communicator with a customer-focused approach, strong problem-solving skills, experience supporting stock control, and the ability to work collaboratively while showing initiative and maintaining high service standards.
