Digital Support Specialist

Flannery Plant Hire is a leading provider of plant hire and specialist attachments to the construction industry across the UK and Ireland. We are seeking a reliable, customer-focused Office-Based Technical Support Specialist to join our Digital team. You will provide first and second-line technical assistance to external customers, resolve hardware/software issues, maintain office systems, and ensure smooth daily technology operations within our workplace. You will work on-site to deliver timely, effective support and minimize downtime for all Machine control equipment

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide remote technical support to all customers for machine control products.

  • Be the point of contact for off machine support. Process data sets using CAD software. Check and validate all customer data prior to export and model upload.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with operating systems for Trimble, Leica and Smart Construction products,

  • Log, track, and manage all support requests via the IT ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication with users.

  • Set up, configure, and maintain new user accounts, RTK, Works Manager and Conx Systems,

  • Perform routine system updates, and maintenance to keep on hire technology secure and running efficiently.

  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding processes: equipment provisioning, data transfer, and account setup for remote services.

  • Maintain and log all technical support cases, track software assets, and report on equipment needs or replacements.

  • Document technical processes, solutions, and FAQs for internal knowledge sharing.

  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior staff, providing detailed information for fast resolution.

  • Adhere to company IT policies, data protection regulations, and security best practices always.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: GCSE / National 5 in Maths & English; IT-related qualification or certification

  • HNC / Diploma / BSC Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction

  • Previous experience in a technical support, IT helpdesk, or similar role

  • Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems, common office applications (MS 365), and CAD computer hardware.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose technical issues systematically.

  • Great communication skills: able to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical colleagues.

  • Customer-focused, patient, and professional attitude.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; strong time-management skills.

  • Commitment to data confidentiality and information security.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of ticketing systems

  • Familiarity with basic server maintenance or network diagnostics.

  • Experience supporting industry-specific software relevant to our business.
