Job Summary:

The Retail Accounting Digital Product Owner serves as the primary bridge between Accounting, Finance, Retail Operations, and Technology teams. This role is responsible for defining product strategy, managing requirements, prioritizing delivery, and ensuring business value realization for retail accounting capabilities across the enterprise.

The Product Owner owns the product backlog for retail accounting solutions, working closely with stakeholders, implementation partners, architects, and engineering teams to deliver scalable solutions that support financial operations, compliance, and growth. The role combines retail accounting expertise, product management, and agile delivery leadership to ensure technology investments align with business objectives and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

Provide subject matter expertise across:

  • Retail sales accounting
  • Revenue recognition
  • Returns and refund accounting
  • Promotions, markdowns, and discount accounting
  • Inventory valuation and cost accounting
  • General ledger integration
  • Financial reconciliation processes
  • Point-of-sale (POS) financial flows
  • Omnichannel commerce accounting transactions
  • Store-level financial operations
  • Month-end and year-end financial close processes.

Strong understanding of:

  • General Ledger (GL)
  • Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Revenue Recognition
  • Inventory Accounting
  • Cost Accounting
  • Financial Reconciliation
  • Order-to-Cash (O2C)
  • Procure-to-Pay (P2P)
  • Retail POS integrations
  • Financial reporting and controls

Technology Partnership

  • Collaborate with D365 Finance & Operations teams, architects, and integration teams.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and delivery priorities.
  • Support testing, release planning, and production readiness activities.
  • Evaluate opportunities to leverage automation, AI, reporting, and analytics capabilities.
  • Participate in enterprise transformation initiatives and global rollout programs

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Analyst, or Functional Consultant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting Finance, Accounting, or Retail business functions.
  • Experience in retail accounting processes.
  • Experience operating within Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Experience working with ERP platforms such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, SAP, Oracle, or similar enterprise systems.
