Job Description

Digital Product Area Manager - IKEA Marketing & Communication AB (IMC)

Inter IKEA Group connects IKEA franchisees with range development and suppliers and ensures alignment of the overall IKEA strategic direction. Every day, we strive to develop, produce, and sell products and services that are affordable and accessible to everyone.

The IKEA vision is to create a better everyday life for the many people – and we’re always searching for new and better ways to do it. We use our home furnishing knowledge to create products and solutions that will enable more people to live the life they want. Through creativity, IKEA Marketing & Communication connects the heart of IKEA to the hearts and minds of the many people.

We are based in Älmhult, Sweden – the heart of IKEA. From here, we create, produce and deliver inspiring content that helps our retail markets grow and strengthens IKEA as a purpose-led brand and expert in life at home. We are proud of our craftsmanship and believe it should always go hand in hand with technology. As marketing and communication continue to evolve, we are simplifying the way we work, speeding up development and continuously improving how we create, produce and distribute high quality content at scale.

We are recruiting a Digital Product Area Manager for the Capability Area, reporting to the Capability Area Manager.

Our team is based in Älmhult, Sweden. We believe that your presence with the team and working most of the time in the workplace is important.

Your next role

This role is a natural next step for someone ready to lead with both business and people in a digital context. As Digital Product Area Manager, you will be part of the newly formed Capability Area within IMC, enabling greater simplicity, consistency and efficiency in how IKEA content is created, produced and distributed across our markets. You will lead the development and operations of the digital products in your portfolio, manage a group of Digital Product Leaders, create the conditions for empowered teams to deliver user and business value, and contribute to a clear direction and roadmap that supports both business needs and long-term capability development. In this role, you will report to the Capability Area Manager and work closely with the Business Process Partner group, the Capability Area Planning Leader, stakeholders across IMC and beyond to turn strategy into impactful outcomes.

You will be accountable for the assigned portfolio of digital products and platforms, securing running business, support and service performance, and development progress. Together with your digital product teams and partners, you will shape priorities, follow up on performance, and help build a strong product area with clear goals, aligned ways of working and a strong value focus for users and the business.

On a typical working day, you will:

  • Set direction and priorities for your product area together with digital product teams, balancing business needs, product life-cycle decisions and operational stability.
  • Follow up on product and service performance, using outcome metrics and data to support decisions, remove obstacles and improve value delivery.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across IMC, the value chain, digital and technology partners to align roadmaps, expectations, budgets and development plans.
  • Coach and develop Digital Product Leaders and co-workers, creating the conditions for empowered teams to explore new technology, take ownership and deliver with confidence.
  • Translate strategic movements into actionable plans that improve how IKEA content is created, produced and distributed with greater simplicity, consistency and efficiency across markets.

What we’d like you to bring to the table

The role as a Digital Product Area Manager requires:

  • Bring a strong combination of business drive, people leadership and digital product expertise, with proven ability to lead transformation and create the conditions for empowered teams to deliver value in a fast-moving digital and AI-enabled landscape.
  • Extensive experience in leading digital product development, with strong knowledge of agile development practices, product ways of working, data-informed decision-making and how to lead digital products and cross-functional teams from direction to measurable impact.
  • Proven experience of identifying, shaping and scaling opportunities created by artificial intelligence, automation and emerging technologies, turning them into responsible, practical and value-creating digital product outcomes.
  • Progressive people leadership experience, with the ability to coach, develop and build high-performing teams and leaders who are curious, empowered and confident to explore new technology while staying anchored in business needs and user value.
  • Strong capability to translate strategy into direction, priorities and roadmaps, while balancing business needs, operational stability, technology opportunities, responsible AI considerations and long-term capability development.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to inspire others, build networks across IKEA and create alignment across business, value chain, digital and technology partners.
  • A strong motivation to lead transformation and continuous improvement, with a visionary yet structured approach and a genuine passion for creating business value through digital products, people, data and artificial intelligence.
  • Growth mindset and curiosity, actively exploring new tools, methods, processes and industry developments, and helping others understand how digital technology and AI can improve the way we work.

It’s a plus if you also bring:

  • Experience from working in a global organization or company with global reach, with the ability to navigate complexity, connect stakeholders and scale digital product outcomes across markets, functions and user needs.
  • Hands-on understanding of modern software development, agile and DevOps practices, and how digital products, data, automation and AI can come together to improve business performance and user experience.
  • Relevant education or equivalent experience within digital product development, technology, business, engineering or a related field.
