Digital Press Operator - 1-Year Term Assignment-(26004908)

University of Iowa Printing Services is seeking a Digital Press Operator – 1-year term assignment. This position sets up, operates, maintains, and makes minor repairs on digital press equipment.Produces high quality single or multicolored print jobs on various substrates; work is highly skilled and requires an eye for detail. May include static or variable data items such as brochures, posters, flyers, booklets, books, magazines, newsletters, etc. Duties also involve the use of computers, servers, scanners, archiving systems, along with related software and technologies. Duties to include:

  • Operate and maintain digital press, digital envelope presses, and wide format equipment.Make minor repairs and adjustments as necessary.
  • Operates and maintains various types of finishing and auxiliary equipment that is complimentary to the digital and wide format presses.
  • Utilizes computer system to enter job specifications.Monitors and maintains job production status within the system.Interprets job ticket information and enters job setup requirements into digital presses.
  • Responds to customer inquiries regarding job production status, due dates, and production capabilities.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5:00am-1:30pm or 7:30am-4:00pm, hours will be discussed during the interview.

Location: Mossman Business Services Building

Qualifications

Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

  • Three years’ experience in printing production and graphic arts which must include at least one year’s experience with offset or digital printing and using graphic arts software (such as Adobe CS).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience operating and maintaining large production copiers or printers and working in a fast-paced and changing environment.

  • Experience with wide format printing and finishing.

  • Experience with inventory management, prepress, bindery equipment, and print management software

  • Mechanical maintenance experience

  • Knowledge of University policies/procedures

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe products.

  • Loading cargo using two-wheel carts
