Description:
This is a unique position. For the last nine years, KLTV/KTRE has operated a successful, live digital broadcast from our newsroom. Thousands watch each day as our hosts report news as it is breaking, live from our newsroom. East Texas Now is live, local news and talk 19 hours a day and in operation seven days a week. This is an established, mature streaming production that has served as the model for many others in the industry.
The hosts produce, present, and technically direct their shows every day using a special interface developed for and with the input of KLTV/KTRE. East Texas Now is live each day on desktop, mobile devices, in our apps, and on Amazon Fire and Roku OTT devices. East Texas Now even has its own dedicated app with integrated chat that allows viewers to interact with the host. If you can talk, love breaking news, and are technically inclined to multitask while talking in front of one of multiple cameras, this is an exciting, groundbreaking position.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Handle Breaking News
- Talk to reporters and news makers via FaceTime and Skype
- Self-direct the show
- Set up and coordinate guests for in-studio or remote appearances
- Plan content for each day
- Perform "live read" commercials from the East Texas Now desk
- Talk a lot!
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Competence in reporting live, online, and on air
- Reporting on digital platforms, often live via FaceTime or Skype
- Setting up guests and reporters
- Computer skills
- Position generally alternates schedules dayside/nightside weekly
- Experience in talk radio is a plus
