Job Description

The Marketing Communications Specialist - Digital for the Protective & Marine Coatings Division (P&M) of Sherwin-Williams’ Performance Coatings Group will lead execution of digital customer engagement programs to further brand awareness and demand creation for all Protective & Marine market segments. This role supports a team of 25 marketing and sales members driving more than $164M in revenue.

The marketing communications specialist will assist with planning and execution of digital customer engagement tactics in support of division sales and share growth goals. This role will support the marketing engagement manager and marketing communication managers in implementing inbound marketing programs including email engagement programs, social media, customer webinars, digital tools, and marketing data integration. In addition, this role will collaborate with the digital marketing team and external agencies to request, analyze and prepare customer engagement analytics.

Additional Information:

This role is not remote/hybrid. This role will report to Sherwin-Williams Global Headquarters located at 1 Sherwin Way, Cleveland, OH 44113 and will have at least 10% travel.

The success of the role will be measured by brand awareness lift and sales-accepted leads that directly and indirectly generate segment/regional revenue and margin growth.

Digital Campaign Execution & Optimization

  • Collaborate with marketing engagement manager and the marketing communications team to support digital customer engagement tactics that contribute to segment growth and brand awareness.
  • Execute integrated digital marketing campaigns across paid, owned, and earned channels.
  • Support and optimize paid media campaigns (LinkedIn, Google Ads), including audience targeting, budget pacing, and performance monitoring.
  • Contribute recommendations to improve campaign effectiveness, engagement, and ROI.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure timely and accurate campaign delivery.

Social Media & Content Distribution

  • Manage day-to-day execution of social media programs (LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube), including content scheduling, publishing, and engagement monitoring.
  • Support follower growth and engagement through performance tracking and optimization.
  • Monitor platform trends and recommend enhancements to improve reach and engagement.
  • Assist with execution and monitoring of paid social campaigns.

Search & Website Optimization

  • Support implementation of SEO best practices, including keyword optimization and on-page enhancements.
  • Contribute to improving organic search visibility and performance through data-driven recommendations.
  • Assist in optimizing content for evolving AI-driven search environments (AEO/GEO).
  • Support website updates and digital tools that enhance user experience and lead generation.

Lead Generation & Marketing Automation

  • Execute marketing automation campaigns, including email and trigger-based programs.
  • Support lead nurturing efforts aligned with sales and marketing objectives.
  • Collaborate with CRM teams to ensure effective campaign integration, audience targeting, and data usage.
  • Assist in development and optimization of lead generation workflows.
  • Assist in the coordination and promotion of webinar programs, including logistics, communications, and post-event follow-up campaigns.

Analytics & Performance Reporting

  • Track and analyze performance across digital channels (web, email, paid media, social).
  • Develop actionable insights to improve engagement, conversion rates, and lead quality.
  • Maintain and support dashboards and reporting cadences.
  • Partner with digital and analytics teams to enhance measurement frameworks and reporting accuracy.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Internal Communications

  • Partner with marketing, sales, and digital teams to align on campaign execution and priorities.
  • Coordinate internal communications related to digital marketing initiatives.
  • Maintain and update shared marketing and sales resources (e.g., SharePoint).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g., OPT, CPT, H1B, EB-1,etc.)
  • Must have a valid, unrestricted drivers license.
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • Must have three (3) years of experience in digital marketing.

  • Must be willing to travel as required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree or higher in marketing, communications, or business.

  • Have five (5) years of experience in marketing communications.

  • Have one (1) year of experience using Microsoft Office products (e.g Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook). 

  • Have experience with Content Management Systems, such as Adobe Experience Manager.

  • Have experience with Customer Relationship Management, such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics.

  • Have experience with marketing automation, such as Marketo or Hubspot.
