Job Specification: Digital Marketing Manager Location: Remote Working Hours: Initially 20 hours per week, with the potential to increase to full-time Working Schedule: Standard UK business hours, approximately 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, with flexibility around the agreed part-time schedule About the Business Our client is a UK-based specialty coffee roastery supplying high-quality coffee to cafés, hospitality businesses and other wholesale customers. Alongside its wholesale operation, the business operates an on-site brew bar café and has an established direct-to-consumer online coffee business. Having operated its online store for approximately seven years, the business has recently experienced encouraging growth following the introduction of basic digital marketing initiatives. It is now looking to build on this momentum by bringing in an experienced Digital Marketing Manager who can take ownership of its online marketing strategy, improve campaign performance and drive sustainable e-commerce growth. The successful candidate will work closely with the existing team, helping to develop and execute a more sophisticated digital marketing strategy while identifying opportunities to grow online revenue and strengthen the brand's digital presence. The Role The Digital Marketing Manager will take ownership of the business's digital marketing activities, with a particular focus on its direct-to-consumer e-commerce operation. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who can work independently, make informed marketing decisions and deliver measurable results without requiring extensive supervision. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing paid advertising campaigns, analysing performance data, improving conversion rates and identifying opportunities to maximise return on advertising spend. Initially structured as a part-time position of approximately 20 hours per week, the role offers the opportunity to make a tangible commercial impact while helping shape the future of the business's digital marketing function. Key Responsibilities Paid Advertising and Campaign Management ● Plan, implement and independently manage paid digital advertising campaigns across Meta Ads and Google Ads. ● Monitor and optimise campaigns to maximise return on ad spend (ROAS), reduce customer acquisition costs and improve overall campaign profitability. ● Manage advertising budgets effectively, making data-driven decisions on campaign allocation and optimisation. ● Develop and test different audience segments, creative assets, messaging and campaign strategies to improve performance. ● Identify opportunities to scale successful campaigns and introduce new paid marketing initiatives. E-commerce Growth and Conversion Optimisation ● Develop and execute strategies to increase online sales and revenue through the direct-to-consumer e-commerce store. ● Analyse the customer journey to identify barriers to purchase and opportunities to improve conversion rates. ● Implement and test improvements to landing pages, product pages, promotional offers and the online purchasing experience. ● Identify opportunities to improve customer acquisition, retention, repeat purchases and customer lifetime value. ● Work towards measurable commercial objectives, including online revenue growth, conversion rate improvement and advertising efficiency. Digital Marketing Strategy and Execution ● Develop and implement a practical digital marketing strategy aligned with the business's commercial objectives. ● Take ownership of marketing planning, campaign execution and ongoing optimisation. ● Identify opportunities across relevant digital channels to increase brand awareness, website traffic and online sales. ● Collaborate with the existing team on campaign content, creative requirements and promotional activity. ● Stay informed about digital marketing trends, platform developments and emerging opportunities relevant to e-commerce and consumer-facing brands. Analytics, Reporting and Continuous Improvement ● Track and analyse key marketing metrics, including ROAS, cost per acquisition, conversion rates, website traffic and revenue. ● Use performance data to identify trends, evaluate campaign effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement. ● Provide clear, practical reporting on marketing performance and progress against agreed targets. ● Establish appropriate performance benchmarks and continually refine campaigns based on results. ● Use AI tools and marketing automation where appropriate to improve efficiency, streamline workflows and support campaign optimisation. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is an experienced, hands-on digital marketer who combines strategic thinking with strong practical execution. They will be confident taking ownership of campaigns from planning through to reporting, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes without needing to be closely managed. They should be commercially driven, comfortable working with data and focused on achieving measurable outcomes rather than simply generating activity or engagement. As the business is looking to build on recent growth in its online sales, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate how their marketing decisions can translate into increased revenue, stronger campaign performance and sustainable e-commerce growth. This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys working in a small, entrepreneurial environment where they can make a meaningful impact, take ownership of their work and help develop a growing direct-to-consumer business. Working Arrangement ● Initial commitment: Approximately 20 hours per week, with the potential to increase to full-time depending on the needs of the business and the scope of the role. ● Working hours: A standard UK business-day framework, with the precise schedule agreed around the part-time arrangement. ● Location: Fully remote. The business is open to considering candidates at different experience levels within the relevant range, with a preference for someone who can demonstrate the ability to work independently and deliver tangible improvements in digital marketing performance. Requirements Essential Requirements ● Three to five years of relevant digital marketing experience, ideally within consumer-facing, e-commerce or direct-to-consumer brands. ● Proven experience independently managing paid advertising campaigns across Meta Ads and Google Ads. ● A strong understanding of performance marketing, campaign optimisation and return on advertising spend. ● Demonstrable experience driving online sales, improving conversion rates and delivering measurable commercial results. ● Experience working with e-commerce platforms and understanding the factors that influence online purchasing behaviour. ● Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret campaign data and translate insights into actionable improvements. ● The ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively and take ownership of marketing performance. ● A commercially minded approach, with a clear understanding of how digital marketing contributes to revenue and profitability. ● Excellent communication and organisational skills. Desirable Experience ● Experience working with specialty coffee, food and beverage, hospitality, lifestyle or other consumer product brands. ● Familiarity with Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Google Tag Manager and e-commerce reporting tools. ● Experience with email marketing, customer retention campaigns and marketing automation. ● Knowledge of SEO, content marketing and organic social media strategies. ● Experience using AI tools to improve marketing productivity, campaign development and reporting. ● Experience working within a small or growing business where initiative, flexibility and independent decision-making are essential.
