We are committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity by reflecting all Canadians in both the stories that we tell and the composition of our workforce. Recognizing the importance of work-life balance, we offer flexible work arrangements and support programs. We also invest in our employees' growth through training and mentorship opportunities, enabling you to expand your skills and embrace new challenges.

No matter your position at The Globe, you'll be an integral part of an organization dedicated to making a positive difference in Canada. Join us.

The Globe and Mail is hiring two full-time digital editors to join our newsroom. As Canada's leading news organization, we are constantly evolving how we tell stories and connect with audiences across our digital platforms. In a crowded and chaotic news environment, we have to work harder than ever to deliver coverage that is both essential and engaging to Canadians.

We are looking for curious editors with solid news judgement to run our homepages, edit and publish stories, write mobile alerts, curate newsletters, and grow their aspirations alongside ours.

Ideal candidates are avid news consumers who read/watch/listen widely and deeply. Digital editors are adaptable and collaborative, with a knack for identifying the nuggets of a story that make great headlines. In this role, you will work with editors and reporters from across the newsroom in creating a rich digital news experience on our app and mobile platforms. Your decisions will be guided by expertise and instinct, as well as a deep familiarity with the stories and topics that resonate with Globe subscribers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensuring we are fast and best on breaking news stories and the stories that matter most to subscribers
• Choosing stories and visuals that will appear at the top of our app and website homepages
• Copy editing and publishing a range of staff and wire stories, from news and business to longform features
• Writing SEO-friendly, engaging headlines, decks, captions and other display copy
• Publishing stories with a visual eye for the best photos, graphics and videos to showcase our journalism
• Writing mobile push alerts and curating newsletters
• Using audience analytics to spot opportunities and inform decisions
• Suggesting stories we should be covering
• Looking for ways to experiment with how and when we reach audiences
QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least three years experience working in digital media
• Solid news judgment
• Strong headline writing and story editing skills
• Familiarity with what makes a rich digital storytelling experience
• Clear communicator and excellent multitasker
• Avid news consumer
• Ability to work shifts that include early mornings, nights or weekends
• Comfortable working in digital content management systems, content planning tools, and other platforms
• Business journalism experience is an asset
If you thrive in a fast-paced environment where every day is an opportunity to learn or try something new, this role is for you.

The Globe offers a hybrid work environment. This position requires working variable shifts, including early mornings, nights or weekends. It is based in our Toronto office and you are required to work in-office a minimum of two days a week.

As Canada’s most respected media brand, The Globe is dedicated to making a difference to Canada and you can make a difference by working with us.

WE OFFER:
• Competitive compensation to ensure we hire, retain and reward team members
• Hybrid work environment that promotes work-life balance

• Parental leave top-up
• Competitive health and dental benefits
• Defined Benefit pension plan

• On-site chiropractor and registered massage therapist
• Employee and family assistance program
