What is the Digital Divide?
The digital divide refers to the gap between individuals who have reliable access to technology, internet connectivity, and digital skills and those who do not.
For many older adults and people with disabilities, limited access to devices, broadband internet, digital training, or adaptive technology can create significant barriers to participating in daily life. These barriers often affect access to:
- Healthcare and telehealth services
- Employment and workforce opportunities
- Education and lifelong learning
- Government and community resources
- Social engagement and communication
We are seeking a Digital Divide Coordinator to support our Bridging the Digital Divide Program, an initiative funded through the Rural Health Transformation Program. This position focuses on helping aging adults and adults with disabilities in rural northwestern Connecticut overcome barriers to technology access, digital literacy, and connectivity.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Coordinator meets individuals where they are, both geographically and in their comfort and confidence with technology, helping them build the skills and connections needed to participate more fully in today's digital world.
