The Digital Designer role at Ocean State Job Lot (“OSJL” and “Company”) is responsible for designing and leading the development of assets for use in all areas of digital marketing, including, but not limited to, email, social media, digital display, and the OSJL website. This role is responsible for creating visually appealing assets that feature best practices for digital design. The Digital Designer role displays extraordinary creative skills and works closely with other Marketing & Advertising colleagues and associates in other departments around the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day design and content of the Company’s website.
  • Develop and maintain all OSJL creative assets, including but not limited to the website, banners, and landing pages.
  • Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
  • Develop and propose updates to content and graphics processes.
  • Manage and archive digital assets to ensure channels have access to accurate digital content.
  • Design and execute digital content for a variety of channels, including but not limited to email, digital display, social media, and mobile platforms.
  • Establish, communicate internally, and promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards for all digital properties.
  • Effectively collaborate with technical developers in OSJL’s Website Department to ensure that the optimal user experience and interface are created.
  • Thrives in a team-oriented setting, consistently collaborating with Marketing & Advertising peers and colleagues in other departments with a positive and constructive attitude.

Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of digital design experience is required.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in design or other relevant creative field is required.
  • Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio is required.
  • Digital website asset design experience is required.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite required; WordPress and Constant Content is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of traditional and contemporary design standards (typography, UX/UI, color theory, and brand communication) is required.
  • Experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and site maps is required.
  • Knowledge of current web trends, techniques, and technologies is required.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping is preferred.
  • Motion graphic experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in Google platform (i.e., Sites, Slides, Drive, Docs, Sheets).

Work Environment:

  • Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with minimal safety and health hazard
    potential.
  • Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.

  • Hybrid work option: Some work may be completed outside of the Company locations, with at least three (3) days a week in the Corporate Office. The role is responsible for setting up a professional and ergonomically safe work environment and to be available during working hours. Hybrid work options are not guaranteed and are subject to change at any time based upon Company policy, associate performance and business needs.

The annual salary range for this position is $53,000 - $63,000. Salary commensurates with years of experience.
