Department Overview:
The Student Communications and Marketing team works with campus partners to ensure all students know the opportunities and resources available to them before and during their time at Boise State. Our goal is to help all Broncos have an exceptional Boise State experience.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Digital Communications Specialist helps shape and execute content marketing for prospective and current students and their families. As part of a cross-functional creative team, this role develops media and communications for websites, social media, email and digital marketing.

Level Scope:
Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.
Essential Functions:
- Web Content Management: Update, maintain, and structure content across university websites using Content Management Systems. Ensure strict compliance with web accessibility best practices.
- Social Media and Storytelling: Plan, write, and execute multi-channel social media calendars (Instagram/Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube). Highlight campus life, student success, academic research, and institutional milestones.
- Multimedia Production: Produce short-form video (Reels), graphics, and photo assets using tools like Adobe Creative Cloud or Canva.
- Email and Digital Campaigns: Draft, format, and deploy campus newsletters, admissions marketing emails, and department updates and communications.
- Analytics and Optimization: Monitor digital performance using Google Analytics, social media insights and accessibility checkers. Translate data into actionable recommendations.
- Campus Collaboration: Partner with admissions and recruitment, housing and residence life, student affairs, and student ambassadors to source stories and maintain brand consistency across sub-domains.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Excellent grammar, composition, and proofreading skills; attention to detail
- Knowledge of social media and the best ways to utilize each platform.
- Advanced knowledge of design and publishing concepts.
- Experience thinking critically and using creative ways to solve problems.
- Communicating policies, procedures and complex concepts to a wide variety of skill and interest levels.
- Excellent time management, organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
- Familiarity with AP style
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 2 years experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional experience in a higher education or public sector setting.
Salary and Benefits:
