About the Role:
Global News is seeking a full-time Digital Broadcast Journalist to join our Fredericton newsroom.
Reporting to the News Manager, you will be responsible for delivering timely, compelling local coverage across New Brunswick, with a primary focus on Fredericton.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career journalist looking to gain hands-on experience, including political reporting at the New Brunswick Legislature.
You will contribute to daily newscasts and digital platforms, covering breaking news, enterprise stories, and in-depth reporting.
This role requires flexibility, as shifts may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays. You’ll be part of the News at 6 team and collaborate closely with colleagues in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
This is a Group 4 position under the current collective agreement.

• Pitch, research, and develop original story ideas through strong contact building and community engagement.
• Shoot, write, voice, and edit stories for television broadcast.
• Produce and publish content for digital platforms.
• Deliver live coverage of breaking and developing news from the field.
• Respond quickly and accurately to breaking news situations.
• Build and maintain a network of reliable sources.
• Contribute to a collaborative newsroom while also working independently.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and experience you will bring:
• Post-secondary education in journalism, broadcasting, or a related field.
• Approximately 2 years of experience in television news reporting (or equivalent).
• Experience with ENG cameras and/or mobile journalism tools (smartphone newsgathering).
• Proficiency in non-linear editing systems.
• Strong news judgment, writing, and storytelling skills.
• Confident on-air presence with the ability to deliver live reports clearly and effectively.
• Strong editorial, visual, and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with minimal supervision.
• Understanding of digital platforms and evolving newsroom technologies.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools and workflows.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
