JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patient Evaluation: Review records, interview patients and families, gather clinical and growth data, assess moderate nutrition risk, and support assigned inpatient or outpatient services, including menus, calorie counts, discharge education, and basic formula recipes.
  • Patient Care: Monitor moderate-risk patients, support nutrition care plans, verify diet orders, track intake and tolerance, assist with allergy-safe menus, complete nutrient analyses and forms, educate families, document care, and refer higher-risk needs to the registered dietitian.
  • Nutrition Support: Monitor NPO and clear-liquid orders, coordinate tube-feeding products, provide standardized recipes, calculate daily product needs, and monitor use.
  • Department Operations: Enter charges and complete daily productivity records.
  • Collaboration: Work with dietitians and diet technicians to complete patient care, support specialty clinics, and contribute to assigned projects.
  • Nutrition Care: Assess nutrition needs, provide education and menu guidance, verify interventions, support discharge planning, document in the medical record, and communicate changes to the registered dietitian and care team.
  • Formula and Human Milk Preparation: Prepare, label, store, deliver, and document feedings accurately while following recipes, quality controls, aseptic technique, sanitation standards, and infection-control policies.
  • Inventory and Supplies: Maintain stock, order approved products, verify deliveries, rotate inventory, monitor expiration dates, report shortages, and follow recall procedures.
  • Quality and Safety: Verify orders, maintain required records and quality logs, report equipment or safety concerns, work within scope of practice, and follow all regulatory and departmental standards.
  • Professional Accountability: Work collaboratively, follow the professional code of ethics, maintain competency, use evidence-based practices, pursue professional development, and mentor or train others as assigned.

  • Associate's degree in a related field
  • Preferred: Previous related experience
  • Registered Dietetic Technician
