Shift: Part Time, varied evenings, inclusive of every other weekend and holidays as needed

Job Description

Prepares and delivers food trays to hospital patients by performing the following duties.

Job Responsibility

1.Reads meal tickets on trays to determine items to place on tray.

2.Serves food items using appropriate utensils for correct serving size.

3.Places items such as eating utensils, napkins, and condiments on trays.

4.Prepares food items such as sandwiches, salads, soups, and beverages.

5.Places servings in blender to make foods for soft or liquid diets.

6.Apportions and places food servings on plates and trays according to diet list on menu card.

7.Examines filled tray for completeness.

8.Pushes carts to units.

9.Serves trays to patients.

10.Collects and stacks dirty dishes on cart and returns cart to kitchen.

11.Washes dishes and cleans work area, tables, cabinets, and ovens.

12.Collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers.

13.Records food temperatures of food being served to patients and residents.

14.Maintains cooperative working relationship with peers, management and customers.

15.Demonstrates flexibility and consideration during interaction with peers, management and customers.

16.Demonstrates ability to listen effectively and respond to customer needs.

17.Demonstrates a willingness to cooperate and be respectful to others level of skills and abilities, shows flexibility, offers assistance and works effectively and efficiently with others to accomplish goals and objectives.

18.Employee is required to work in a safe manner.

19.Demonstrates ability to maintain attendance standards established by the department.

20.Ability to conduct himself/herself in a manner which conforms with the HIPAA Compliance Program and applicable facility policy and procedures for patient confidentiality.

21.Ability to conduct themselves in conformity with LIH Security policy and procedures.

Job Qualification

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • One to three months related experience and/or training preferred.
