The Role

The Dietary Services Leader is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Dietary Services department while ensuring high-quality, safe, and compliant food service across the organization.

This role blends leadership, nutrition, and hands-on support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both guiding a team and stepping in when needed.

What You Will Do

Lead and support the Dietary Services team in daily operations

Ensure all meals are prepared according to dietary guidelines, physician orders, and food safety standards

Collaborate with a Registered Dietitian to support patient nutrition plans and regulatory compliance

Assist with nutritional screening, documentation, and care planning

Develop and maintain menus, production sheets, and food service workflows

Monitor patient progress and adjust nutritional approaches in collaboration with care teams

Maintain compliance with Washington Food Code and hospital policies

Oversee inventory, ordering, and supply management

Ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper maintenance of kitchen equipment

Provide excellent service to patients, staff, and visitors

Step in to support cooking and dietary aide functions as needed

What We Are Looking For

Experience in food service, dietary leadership, or healthcare nutrition

Strong understanding of dietary guidelines and modified diets

Leadership experience in a kitchen or healthcare environment preferred

Ability to balance hands-on work with team leadership

Strong attention to food safety, sanitation, and compliance

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Comfort working in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment

Registered Dietitian or degree in nutrition/dietetics preferred but not required

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required

1–2 years of experience in food service or healthcare setting

Washington State Food Handler's Card (or ability to obtain)

Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or willingness to obtain within one year

Food Protection Manager certification (CFPP)

Knowledge of clinical diets and nutrition practices

Work Environment

Full-time position

May include weekends, holidays, or varied shifts as needed

Hospital kitchen environment with standard food service conditions
