Part-Time Dietary Cook

Location: Oakland, CA
Schedule: Part-Time
Pay:$22.00–$24.00 per hour

McClure Post Acute is looking for a dependable and experienced Part-Time Dietary Cook to join our dietary team. If you enjoy preparing nutritious, high-quality meals and making a positive impact on residents' daily lives, we'd love to meet you.

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen environment. In the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, the cook is responsible for managing the daily operation of the kitchen and ensuring food service runs smoothly.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare nutritious, appetizing meals according to approved menus and recipes

  • Cook a variety of foods in large quantities while maintaining quality and consistency

  • Follow portion control guidelines and prepare therapeutic and special diets accurately

  • Prepare pureed meals as needed

  • Record and monitor food temperatures to ensure food safety compliance

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and cooking area

  • Maintain proper sanitizer (quaternary solution) levels in sanitation buckets

  • Assist with meal service and ensure attractive food presentation

  • Clean cooking equipment, food preparation areas, and serving carts

  • Ensure all kitchen cleaning schedules are completed

  • Work collaboratively with staff across all departments

  • Report resident care concerns or safety issues to the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing

  • Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff

  • Provide supervision and support to kitchen staff when the Dietary Supervisor is unavailable

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Minimum of one year of cooking experience in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or long-term care setting preferred

  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

  • Ability to prepare therapeutic and modified diets

  • Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
