As a Dietary Cook, you will help prepare nutritious, appealing meals that meet residents' individual dietary needs while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and sanitation.

Position Summary

The Dietary Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking meals according to approved menus, standardized recipes, therapeutic diet requirements, and facility guidelines. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, team-oriented, and committed to providing excellent dining experiences for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook meals according to menus, recipes, and dietary requirements.
  • Follow therapeutic and physician-ordered diets, including diabetic, low-sodium, mechanical soft, puree, and other specialized diets.
  • Ensure proper portion sizes and appealing meal presentation.
  • Monitor food quality, freshness, and proper food temperatures.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures.
  • Assist with meal tray preparation, assembly, and timely meal service.
  • Properly store, label, and rotate food and supplies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and food preparation area.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and workstations.
  • Assist with inventory organization and supply management.
  • Work closely with the dietary team to ensure residents receive quality meals and excellent service.
  • Follow all facility policies and applicable health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Previous cooking experience preferred, especially in healthcare, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or commercial food service.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic diets and food safety practices preferred.
  • Food Handler's Certificate required or must be obtained upon hire.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to providing quality resident care and service.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
