Job Description

We are seeking a reliable Dietary Aide to join our dining services team. The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with food preparation, assembling patient trays, delivering meals, and maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen environment. The ideal candidate ensures that meals are served accurately according to diet orders and provides excellent service to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out defined work routines with various dietary utensils, supplies, and equipment.
  • Ensure timely meal and snack service.
  • Help with the preparation and serving of snacks, salads, and desserts.
  • Check meal tray accuracy against patient menus and dietary restrictions.
  • Prepare simple food items, salads, and snacks.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, dishwashing area, and dining room, including cleaning equipment and sanitation.
  • Ensure all food handling follows safety and health standards.
  • Engage with patients, providing friendly, high-quality customer service.
  • Assist in receiving and storing food supplies safely.
  • Complete side work and other opening/closing responsibilities.
  • Participate in departmental and in-service educational programs.
  • Shifts are 4:30am - 3:00pm and/or 9:00am - 7:30pm

Requirements

  • Previous experience in food service, ideally in a healthcare or long-term care setting, is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling practices.
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and diet orders.
  • Must possess or be in the process of obtaining a valid Nevada Food Handler Certification.
  • Basic understanding of food service practices and nutrition preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and co-workers.
  • Availability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Note: Pre-employment drug screening, to include testing for marijuana, is required upon job offer.

Desert Parkway Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is a Joint Commissioned accredited, private, high quality, 152-bed, acute psychiatric facility located in the center of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Desert Parkway’s comprehensive mental health programs are designed to treat children as young as 7 years old, adolescents, adults and seniors. And we have a specialized Hope for Heroes program for first responders and the military.

Our inpatient care is monitored 24 hours a day in a safe, secured facility. Desert Parkway's licensed medical team provides trauma-informed, evidence-based treatments, medication management, and "Next Step"​ Outpatient Programs in our Outpatient Services Facility.

We are dedicated to helping patients with mental illness, behavioral illness, chemical dependency, detox, PTSD and dual-diagnosis with compassion and kindness. Our specialized services include: a no charge, confidential assessment; inpatient psychiatric crisis stabilization with 24 hour supervisions; mental illness and behavioral concerns; chemical dependency; detox/rehab; addictions; and suicidal thoughts.

Our Hope for Heroes program includes a specialized intake protocol and treatment for military and first responders in their exclusive 23-bed unit.
